Hi there,

Returning player here. When I left eve a year ago, there were certain systems that were permanently camped by pirates, e.g. Rancer. Those were also the systems which showed up in dotlans 'most kills' per system list.

Not anymore.

Did some mechanic change and are the systems that guaranteed pew, gone? Or are there still lowsec systems which mean certain removal of your ship for haulers/unprepared travelers?

Cheers,

Miwi.

Seems the united who used to lock down rancer died... They should have a price though for keeping a pretty much 5 year gatecamp up! Amamake is only a shadow of what it used to be. With too many jump capable ships and atleast 4-5 factions in low sec with the ability to make a 10+ black ops gang in less than a mintue, perma camping same system is bad as it makes you a daily victim of said factions.

Because killing haulers and unprepared travelers isn't real pvp.
And people just went to hi sec ganks or FW ..

This just in: Haulers, Couriers and general travelling (autopilot or not) is now Bot-Aspirant behviour (ie not "players")

risk averse "pvpers" much like the ones who used to pray on the gate camps waiting for haulers
have moved to this. You can fly around anywhere you want and pick your targets IE haulers or basically anything that can't / won't fight back. And you can run away from pretty much anything.

Yes because it makes a lot more sense to attack targets you cant kill.

This is why foxes hunt rhinos

The trouble with JF is you have to jump them into a low sec system bordering high sec. You know what that means don't you: Jumping to a low sec pos, webbing and warping off in under the time it takes a cloaked Pilgrim to de-cloak, scramble you and drop 10 dreads and carriers. Or... just wait until the system is clear and pray it's still clear between the time you hit cyno and the time you actually jump. Don't get me started on jumping a JF to a station in low sec. It's just as risky if not more so - you might miss insta-dock position or bump off station (somehow, I don't know). Pfffft.

So in my view JF aren't any safer. You just exchanged one set of risks for another. I don't even fly my JF around high sec at all. Just dock up at the first station in high sec I hit after jumping out of low and transfer to regular freighter from there. It's a 6 bill ship - people love to gank them just for the lulz.

yet most people are unable to catch them. ... most of them pass intact every day. JF should fear only freight club....

Theres several ways that Blockade Runners help JFs avoid most if not all these problems when used in a team.

But at least it's more fun and challeging than just hanging in one spot all day pressing the smartbombs every now and then to kill whatever shows up on d-scan.

Btw was it the united or another entity that got 'harrassed' out of their low-sec spot by a multiboxer ?Read that story a while back on C&P .

Lowsec has become stagnant, I remeber starting my PVP career with the Strange Alliance, it was a little dul even then but we often found roaming gangs of equal numbers to fight with our trusty drakes and canes.......

Now however lowsec is a barren wasteland, at least it is where I grew up, that being said jump caps into some noteable systems and the residants suddenly wake up......

They are doing such a wonderful job of fixing null, that we all went on a holiday to pass the time until they eventually fix low. Cool

Also, Elvis lives and he rides Unicorns.

So pick stations with big undocks and bookmark good cyno spots? Losing any jump capable cap in lowsec outside of an actual shooty engagement is basically a darwin award.

And doing the whole pos thing is just asking to get NYNC'd.

What is more fun then camping a gate?

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Yah the losec were I usually live is pretty tame most days and often empty for 3 or 4 systems in a row. The odd T3 takes pot shots at you in passing on a gate but its all pretty casual and no-one really camps. General the traffic you see is Indys and the odd BR and even the odd mining barge. You never see DST ... ever. In a lot of the systems the POCOs all show as Interbus so there so not seem to be many local inhabitants.

There is one particular losec island, a single system surrounded by hisec with a NPC station in it, which regularly has cynos up so it seems to be a popular landing spot for jump freighters. Otherwise the whole region is pretty dead.

But I must also wonder if FW in lowsec has much influence on this: more chance of a fleet happening by and such.

I don't see much gate camp removal happening in FW. Just people avoiding the camped systems or relying on their ability to align before their frigate can be locked.

I wonder how many former gate campers are now hunting FW pilots.
