Ive been asking for over a year for a art dev blog.

Where are we with V3? What's next? When do you turn on the new lighting effects? When will you get rid of the Amarr brown colors and get the gold back?

It cost money, it requires devs to work, it won't boost GTC sales directly. And in *the other* game illustrations are mostly about planetary interactions and avatars which are taboo for our dear devs - and couple pics may provoke a lot more whining about WiS.

Re-watched Art panels from EVE Fanfests 2012 and Fanfest 2013, and also my UI Changes thread

Presented at Fanfest 2012 Art panel:

  • Missiles
  • Launchers
  • Explosions and effects
  • Ships redesign
  • Ship V3 textures
  • Avatar adjustments, sleeve tattoos
  • UI prototypes

Presented at Fanfest 2013 Art panel:

  • Crucifier
  • Apocalypse
  • Colony Battleship (supposed to be included in Odyssey, still not here)
  • Ody data/relic site structures
  • Hacking minigame
  • Stargates, Jump Effect
  • System scan radar-thingie
  • Radial menu
  • UI prototypes: Hangar, Fitting window, Fleet commander, Target, Overview, HUD etc.

Whats new since ody:

  • Ghost site structures (too bad no time to examine those, you hack em before guards kill em)
  • Marauders bastion mode
  • Mobile depoyable structures (mm, i'd say they kinda dullish)
  • Stations V3 skins (They Rock! @imgur album)
  • Capital wrecks

My guess, no art dev blog cause art guys too dependent from game design guys, and some features ready for launch just dont hit actual release.

Too bad preview tool is kinda limited and many things revamped, improved, V3 etc. you just dont get to see. Like all the factional V3 skins for ships, that are there, that look great, that you have to find an NPC wearing it to see it. (Visit my signature link)

New capital wrecks not previewable (on Sisi so far) from their info tabs *EXTREMELY sad bear* so you gotta go out and find one to spin it, and I dont think they gonna be persistent and stay after been salvaged. So much work done, and most people wont even notice or get a chance.

does anyone know whether the new crucifier will be shipped with the fancy animation they presented on some art-panel on fanfest?

and if the sentinel will get its own model (now would be the perfect time for that. nothing big. just similar to vargur->tempest and vagabond->stabber.

New wrecks quite impressive, very beautyful indeed.


Hmm... Cuts seem more appropriate to Lazzor weapons. Thoughts for V4 inevidably come, make wreckage damage type dependent, add:
  • Kinetic example - bullet holes
  • Thermal example - molten armor plates, charred insides
  • Explosive 1, Explosive 2 examples, may be applied to all wrecks in parts that supposedly house reactor, engine and whatnot.

Stations! Idea

Still wrecks not previewable. Damages Stations / Station Ruins not previewable, excepting 3 amarr ones.
Titanomachy is supercool, a place to go sightseeing new wrecks, but Improved Preview Tool for Ships, Stations, Gates etc. would be awesome too. List Gates, Stations, Ships, Structures, choose skins Civilian, Navy, NPC, etc, Wreckage state. My personal fetish Rogue (two Moms in my signature) and Sleeper drones, need preview!

And please make spin counter added to preview window too.

So now that it appears the majority of ships have been v3'd (all player pilotable ones,) as well as stations, gates, etc, I'd be interested to see if the promise of custom ship skins/corporate logo's on ships is on the horizon. IIRC they were waiting until the ships have been v3'd before working on this?

Was a good art devblog btw, and the new wrecks look pretty cool. I think I saw a Noctis wreck in there, so perhaps this means all ships will get the special wreck treatment?
