Eyes fall in distant place to what's behind them. Sparkling intelligence and wit make any color of eyes lovely. Absent a real brain behind them, eyes are just... Meh.

Yeah, I'm a "whole package" kinda guy: Fit, healthy, well-groomed, intelligent, humourous, and attitude... That's what makes for beauty. Specifics like hair color and length, eye color, breast and hip ratios, skin color... Those are just packaging. Which can be very NICE packaging, and I do have some prejudices there, but they're distinctly second to the contents.

Someone wasn't paying attention in biology classes. Never mind a brown eyed man and a blue eyed woman, a couple who both have brown eyes are perfectly capable of having kids with blue eyes.

Tldr: Possible: Yes, but the chance is pretty low, and no man with half a brain should risk that amount of energy without being sure.

Longer Version:

4 possible combinations of brown eyed parents:

Father and Mother pure brown
Father pure Mother mixed
Father mixed Mother pure
Both mixed

only "both mixed" is able to produce blue eyed offspring. (1 of 4 possibilities)

The results would be:

Pure brown, mixed, mixed and pure Blue (only the last expresses as blue eyed, again 1 in 4)

So we have a chance of 1/16 or 6,25% that two brown eyed parents sire a blue eyed offspring. Now if we take into equation that mixed gene human are rarer than pure brown gene humans the chances drop even further, probably under 5%. As raising a child is biologically seen a huge tax on energy, time and commitment a male human in pre-historic times probably did not bet on that slim chance. (by instinct of course) Raising the child of another man meant removing oneself from the gene pool.

My wife has steel-grey eyes and milky-pale skin. She hates the skin, but is pretty happy with her eyes.

Didn't marry her for either of those - And it's not her eyes I see first thing in the moring. It's her hair - A warm cinnimon-brown with red highlights. It glows in the morning light.

Didn't marry her for her hair, either.
