Hey Guys,

Hows everyone doing today? good? fighting stuff everywhere i hope. So i was talking to some Corpies and friends, and we were reminded of a post, by CCP Fozzie, awhile ago about a possible new pos mod.

Personal Ship Maintenance Array.

So you just take the current normal stats of a SMA; ehp, m3, anchoring time etc. And add the "Personal" Mechanic that is used by the Personal Corporate Hanger Array. maybe tweak the m3 to make sure you cant have 200 people living out of 1 SMA.

I believe that this simple mod could greatly improve POS security. Because lets face it, Corp Roles need some work. POS security was one of the main reasons why I do not use POS's more extensively in EVE. So hopefully if we improve POS security more people will want to use them.

At the moment you can use a work around involving a X-Large Ship Assembly Array which can house assembled ships. Then have users assigned to separate tabs. So people are all ready trying to replicate a personal SMA.

This should be easy to implement right? they already have the mechanic from the PCHA.

What do you guys think? What happend to these plans? Please discuss how this could help you in you’re daily POS lives, or not if the case may be. :)

Cheers,
Minus

You know this is not some new idea you and your stoner mates came up with over a bowl on comms right? Its exactly what we all asked for and then we got the ****** personal corporate hanger array.

But yeah /supported.

yes please.

Maybe not room enough for capitals, but 4-5 battleships should be able to fit in it.

You would think that our CSM reps would be pushing for this or something similar, instead we get dread tracking nerfs because we now want to overheat our tracking computers.

Yes, please. We waited long enough since personal hangars.

Or just allow us to divide the current SMA's into multiple hangers.

Definitely support this idea.

Probably should be in the Features & Ideas discussions though, but seeing as this isn't a new idea I doubt it'd make much difference.

Meh, we don't even use the personal hangar arrays but each to their own I guess.

Why not? Plenty of my corps members use them for storing subs etc away from prying eyes of theives.

BUt yes this would be awesome. Its what i wanted instead the PHA is cool i guess but not as useful as PSA

" Again I will mention that creating a personal Ship Maintenance Array version of this structure is also something we want to do, but it has some extra technical challenges so we can’t promise anything quite yet."

So i guess my question now is, What happened to these plans? When will we see this mod come into play?

Yeah, this was supposed to get shipped with Odyssey 1.1

So I clicked on the Fozzie link and actually read the 4th paragraph (monster disclaimer statement). I want this as much as the next gal, but I think saying it was supposed to be shipped in odyssey is a bit agressive.

I have heard rumors that the hold up is Fozzie demanding that it be micro jump drive capable.

Very good point, CCP Fozzie was very clear in that paragraph that a Personal SMA presented some extra technical difficulties.
But how about now? have these tech problems been solved? is the project scrapped or are we still on?

If you're asking me... I will say I don't know to all 3.

I will add that Fozzie may profit from profession help after what he did to the geddon. I would hope he has trouble sleeping at night. Attrocities such as that are difficult to forget.

Looking at current mechanics of PHA which is lacking some functionality BUT at the same time are still very usefull I would say this would be life changer for WH poses.

Even if access is still limited to "character only" like current PHA it would allow for less painfull rights management in WH corps

However for PSMA its even more important to implement some sort of access control mechanics:
We are using personal ships SMA and Corp ships SMA (shared utility ships freely available for members)
- someone quickly swaps ships at the PSMA corp ship into his personal and logs off later - ship is "lost" until that guy shows up
- same goes for borrowed ship
- someone steals from corp by putting whatever ship he can put hands on into PSMA in front of everyone in corp sitting on a pos without them knowing whats going on (or PHA for items in the same manner) - not even directors can see where the things are gone (or even if it is in PSMA/PHA or just gone)

What i think should be implemented is:
- API showing up content of PSMA/PHA (with info about member who's "tab" contains the item
- Directors (or specific role - config starbase perhaps) should be able to at very least see content (and best if also TAKE from) of each person's hangar (like in station hangar where you can view list of player and pick someone 's hangar
- everyone should be able to add list of people (just like channel management works) to add for example his alts so they can share SMA. Each "person's SMA" where you have access too would be visible as separate TAB with player name (lot of work probably to make it work)

PSMA limits. What limit should it have?
- should Capital fit into person's tab?
- should it have global limit unlike PHA? Or be only limited by personal space limit?
- if capital size limit is too much how much should fit in there? 1 BS? 5 BS? anything less sounds very limiting. I would actually see it limited the same way current SMA is (so around 1000000+) so one capital can be stored OR having space limited to JUST UNDER one capital.
- should it require same fitting (pg/cpu) as SMA?

If the choice is between the simple impossible to see into/get things out of space for anyone except the owner and just not having a personnal hanger then please give me the simple concept perrsonal hanger with no corp/director or other access/auditing features. This sort of structure would eliminate a lot of recruiting concerns and also put the responsibility for keeping ones own ships safe in the hands of the individual. It is important that we do not ask for features and complexity which move the idea from a simple, "sure throw the wormholers a bone, it will only require a day or two of effort" category to something that would require it to compete with other projects for resources.
