Hi there,

Returning player here. When I left eve a year ago, there were certain systems that were permanently camped by pirates, e.g. Rancer. Those were also the systems which showed up in dotlans 'most kills' per system list.

Not anymore.

Did some mechanic change and are the systems that guaranteed pew, gone? Or are there still lowsec systems which mean certain removal of your ship for haulers/unprepared travelers?

Cheers,

Miwi.

If you need to move a ship, you bypass the camps in a carrier.
If you need to move an item, you bypass the camps in a jump freighter.
If you need to move yourself, you use an uncatchable ship.

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

If you are poor like me, use a Blockade Runner

I hear they are good for, like, running past blockades.

People know which systems used to be death traps and basically just avoid them now.

Also transport of goods got a little too easy with the whole carrier/jump freighter bypass everything move.

Then again in the hayday those camps were basically death.

Gatecamps are around and alive, they just generally are not in static systems anymore (there more dynamic and more mobile).

Gate Perma-camping was deemed too low-skill and not-pvp, so the gate perma-campers all went to highsec to engage in other low-skill not-pvp activites like freighter and miner ganking, undock asshattery and general griefing via MTUs in an attempt to prove how low-skill and fail we really are.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

all the gate campers just realised they can just go to high-sec and suicide gank all the valuable targets. less time required, bigger kills and basically no risk.

The recent interceptor changes certainly haven't helped things(interceptors are immune to warp bubbles and align/warp faster than you can scram them).

Other than that, more players can fly jump freighters and carriers, so easier to bypass gate camps.

That'll do it.

One point that is made on these forums that I agree with, if you hang out on certain gates and kill everything that moves, eventually there will be nothing moving.

But I must also wonder if FW in lowsec has much influence on this: more chance of a fleet happening by and such.

Because killing haulers and unprepared travelers isn't real pvp.
And people just went to hi sec ganks or FW ..

Seems as if you are going to need to find a new play style.
Pretty sure Ceptor roams will be right up your ally.

risk averse "pvpers" much like the ones who used to pray on the gate camps waiting for haulers
have moved to this. You can fly around anywhere you want and pick your targets IE haulers or basically anything that can't / won't fight back. And you can run away from pretty much anything.

Where did the permanent gatecamps go?
They ran out of Velveeta to keep them sustained while waiting for that one ship a week to come through.
