I was involved in a particularly brutal mugging last year























I got an iPod and a mobile phone so it was worth it.

I'm not going to say you are lying in that particular paragraph. Cheating on taxes has quite a bit of deterrents in most countries, and it is entirely possible to go through life without getting into trouble with the law.
I would challenge you to re-examine the first statement. If you are human, and if you are older than maybe 1 or 2 years, it is a fact of life that you, and everyone else, have hurt others at some point.
Perhaps you have no record of physically hurting someone, but emotional distress counts as well.

However, if you do not consider it possible to hurt someone emotionally ("hurt feelings"), then some people might rightfully accuse you of being mal-adjusted, or, at the very least, coldly insensitive.

The problem in relation to the linked article is that we live in a society that has raised people to have a mindset of looking for ways to be hurt or offended. In the USA, that has been cultivated as a means of financial gain. With a certain percentage of lawyers who are willing to take risks on frivolous cases, people have now found a way to make money off of being hurt.

I'm rarely offended, if at all. Being offended is a choice. Being hurt may not be so much of a choice as it may be in the realm of natural human reaction. In your view regarding human nature, do you agree, and if not why*?

*I promise I won't change your quotes again, even if it is supposedly to save face. P I *would* like a reasonable debate on this one.

Carebears are well-adjusted human beings who foolishly try to apply real world ethics when playing EVE.

If you do not protect it, it is up for grabs. That being said, if someone is caught with their hands on stolen property then they are also up for grabs, or worse if caught on the property where the belongings came from.
