Serpentis Base - Contract Killers Expedition

I had the opportunity to complete this expedition to tonight, and as it is rather poorly documented (despite the Base site being common in low/null), I thought I would share my experience.

Serpentis Base -
Annoying site, stuff spawns very far away and there are dampeners. In the second room shoot the armory to trigger a faction spawn or the escalation.

Contract Killers part 1
Very simple/easy. Theres a Shadow Serp BS near the warp in becaon, and a large assortment of sub-BS at long range. For me, the escalation triggered immediately upon warp in.

Contract Killers part 2
This is not deadspace, so on-grid warping and bookmarks can be used here. The warp in beacon conveniently puts you at 100km from a Serpentis Exile Storage Platform. It fires thermal torps that tickle slightly and webs at 50km. Its accompanied by a few battleships and cruise batteries. The structure reps shield and armor rapidly, however I was able to shut off its armor repair and destroy it in about 10 minutes. It dropped non-usable contraband items.

I then attacked a Drug Lab structure, which to my surprise, resulted in spawning this guy, Quertah Bleu, along with a few flotilla admirals and at least 6 elite frigates. He dropped tags and meta loot, although I assume he has a chance to drop a some deadspace mods (my bet would be corelum A-type or core c-type). I was not able to find any accounts of what his possible drops are.

While I destroyed the overseer structure first, I'm guessing you can safely ignore it entirely and go right for the drug lab, in which case this is a rather easy expedition, despite it having a low chance to start.

Nice and gratz for completing it. So that expedition only has 2 stages?

I wonder how many other null sec sites / expeditions are like that.

Anyway, please feel free to update the Evelopedia with more accurate info if needed.

I made a good faith effort to update evelopedia (as its a pretty good resource for exploration generally), but it wouldn't let me log in and edit last night. Also I was tired as well as cranky from getting no loot.

Ah well, you know what they say ...... If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

I know right? I've been doing bases while bored on occasion for years, and this is the only time I've seen the last stage. It almost made up for not getting any loot. Almost. Blink

I wish it dropped corelum lol. Bases would be worthwhile if they used the low sec deadspace loot rather than crappy null sec c-types (pith, gist, core, etc). The escalation from any Base leads to an expedition that drops c-type loot if any.

i've had Consequences schmonsequences from Guristas base 5 times over the years and got loot out of each one, though the only one that was any good was the one that dropped the Rattlesnake BPC.

The 4 or 5 times i've done Sansha Base, not a single escalation lol.
