1) Space is pretty clean

2) Ships have shields, nothing much is going to touch the hull

3) Armour Repairers (and lots of other Eve-tech) work via nanbots, ergo, why would there be scratches?

If so why "liquid model" for movement is implemented and not "newton physic" ? If you are so smart please reply.

Why isn't EVE like the real world. Where to start... I wont bother.

But I do agree that the ships do have a plastic look to them. Kind of makes some of the ships look a bit dull. But I guess it will help with other things. Maybe things like corp logos on ships.

I wish the shine was a bit better. Eg. The chrome on Myrmidon and Sin is nice and shiny on TQ but the new one is just dull.

Re-roll minmitar, I promise you won't be disappointed! I highly recommend the Typhoon. Lol

The Drake looked awful IMO because it had random battle damage on it right from when it was first assembled. I can no longer see that random battle damage on the V3 Drake. I'm not a fan of flying things that look beat up and used, so honestly, the fact that Caldari and Gallente ships all look "plastic" as you say (really more just metallic but not beat up) is a great thing for me.

The new skins are a new base to work from, With icons and various skin changing possibilities later.
Maybe buy battle damage skins later. Not everyone wants to fly a dented rust bucket.
Perhaps some day they will have damage icons that will appear that randomly overlay the top coat when armor and hull take damage then fade when repaired. (Mind you they have never said anything like this) But I think the current tech allows this to be eventually applied using info that's already given to client.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

The ships look plastic. Pull out an Anathema, it looks like rubber. The Gallente frigates are lunch boxes. Fly a Maulus around; it's like a big Gumby.

The new skins look technically better. Cleaner, sharper. But the texture (as in, to the touch) of those new skins looks worse on many ships. The Anathema especially has really shot to hell a lot of my joy in the game; I play for the cool looking ships more than most I think.

The Gallente shuttle... sigh. :( Look at the Tristan.. what a nerf. :( Again, technically it is better. But aesthetically it looks like a chew toy.

The Amarr haven't been re-skinned.
And with two races subcaps, and all caps to go. I don't think lighting and reflection are finalized tell a good overview of all art is on the table.
The local nebula color effects are still being tweaked I'm sure and with TQ feed back from the masses will likely alter things down the line.

And every other ship my post referred to, has. And those ships make the plastic more apparent, not less apparent.

Can you give any kind of quote suggesting this is true?

If you disagree that there's a plastic look that's cool, but if you agree then I think it deserves acknowledgement more than a brush-off. To me it's important anyway, and I am under the impression that if not given attention the flying lunch boxes will be left as is.

You completely invalidated your post by complaining about the Anathema. One of the coolest ships in the game. Nothing will make you happy so perhaps it is time to pack it in.

Free sun particles leave quite an impact on metals and alloys. I am sure that all that leaves a dent in ship's paint work.

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

While that might be true, I doubt they will leave as much as a dent as my Pulse Lasers.

In fact, I should open an EvE ship remodelling service. I absolutely guarantee your ships will not look either plastic or shiny when I am done.

Muhahahaha... hahaha... Evil

Particles in solar wind don't have enough momentum to dent a starship hull. Besides, everyone has shields anyways, which would deflect these tiny projectiles.

I for one would be slightly concerned if after a full cycle of armour repair my ship still had scracthes.

Also, have you ever looked at a gas turbine blade? To obtain high strength and the ability to withstand ridiculous temperatures (your car engine would vaporize if subjected to some of the temperatures high-end jet engines reach), components are composed of a single metal crystal. There are no scratches and from far enough away they do look like plastic.

I don't see why space-age technology would go backwards. And no, i don't consider Minmatar "space-age."

Oh and furthermore, there is no point in painting spaceships. They used to paint the external fuel tanks on the space shuttle until someone pointed it it served no purpose and added several hundred kilograms.

The only thing invalid there is suggesting that what does and doesn't make me happy has any affect on the point. If you think there isn't a new plastic look, you're welcome to disagree.

If you want to make remarks about me because you don't like my opinion, save yourself the waste of words and remind yourself that a ship looks the way it looks regardless of how much I like or dislike it. The Anathema looks rubber on Sisi compared to TQ. If only my personal opinion had some power over that. And I loved the Anathema by the way.

Before I say anything further...I DO like the new Caldari and Gallente ship designs.

The only DISASTER is the new Fed Navy Comet. Blech ! AWFUL.

But indeed.....there is an aesthetically plastic look to them all.

It started with the Noctis. I noticed it right away.

It is a bit of an issue. In some of the ships, like the Crow, I feel like I'm driving a toy.

I like the designs....but there is an aesthetic issue with the texturing indeed !!!!!!!

PLASTIC TOYS.
