I was held to ransom for my very first time a week or two back now. Unfortunately I have forgotten the "pirates" name, but I'll tell the story.

So I was out in low-sec mining, in a known system. Nothing out of the ordinary in local, so I continued was D-Scan anyway and generally having a boring time mining when somebody decided to spice it up for me. Suddenly a Stratios appeared on grid, apparently having stalked me whilst cloaked. Obviously he had me scrammed and I deployed drones in a pathetic effort of salvation. He opened up Comms with me moments after destroying them and proceeded to tell me what was "going to happen now."

I was flying a retriever (with hardly any ore in hold, I'd just dropped it off) and he wanted 100mil as a ransom. So I decided I'd try talking with him... For over 15mins... Whilst also talking to my alliance and blues in the area... And one of them decided to help a brother out... In a Tengu.

Long story short, this was a bad pirate. He lost a 400mil ship, received no ransom, and I escaped unharmed.

The end.

Wow, that was a bad pirate. I hope he has learned a valuable lesson. Ransom happen in 10 seconds or less in an empty system. 5 seconds with locals, not at all with locals on scan.

I'm glad that you got the last laugh though.

Bad, indeed. Demanding 100m for a Retriever, when it can't even reach that with nulsec ores in its belly. I wonder what he would have tried demanding if he had grabbed your pod.

Lucky for you, you weren't in my system. Pirate

Is that really what happened? Cause the only stratios on your kill list is a stratios which you guys took down with tengu, typhoon fleet issue and an omen, where you were in the Omen.. lies? This happened about 2 weeks ago. Stop making up stories bro.

Sometimes when you're not very interesting , you tell stories. And then don't share the kill mail that would have so obviously existed.

It's exactly what happened. The typhoon on the kill mail was me returning to station and grabbing my BS to try and get on the kill mail but it had already happened when I attacked with my drones from my retriever. Also when I flew off grid the Stratios was still in shields, so I was thinking maybe I could help some too. The Omen on the kill mail is a Corp friend who also wanted in on the kill mail and who subsequently stole the mail from the Tengu. And yes this happened about 2 weeks ago.

I have better things to do with my time than make up stories. Away with you, forum trolls.

Said you put the drones on him with your miner ship, if that happened why isnt it on the mail? again cool stort!

Seriously? Believe it or don't, I don't much care. I'm no liar and you can ask the tengu and omen pilots if you need more clarification haha. Get a grip.

If not true, meh, nice story.

If true......lol, what a noob, flying a freaking Stratios when a simple Vexor would have been just as effective.

Hell, he shoulda used a Tristan.

Also.....fail ransom is fail.

100mill for a Retty....sheesh.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

The retriever wouldn't show up on the mail due to the 15+ mins of non-aggression by the retriever that's why it didn't show. Once the aggressor destroyed his drones the defender didn't have a means to keep aggression thus would not show (theory).

But when I do it makes the Blue's rage, lol.

^This man. Thank you. Not quite sure why I'd have taken the time to make a fake story up. A Stratios kill is beautiful without the story.

When did they change that? It would requiere a session change for the stratios to reset the killmail, always been like that.

Could it be because he ended up on the kill-mail in a 2nd ship? Will each ship that applied damage to the ship be listed on a kill-mail if one pilot applied damage from more then 1 ship?

@Sarah you are right as well if there is a session change it will also not show. I believe there is also a "timer" of non-aggression to keep phantom pilots from staying on the mails that stay in system after aggression. For example say I shot a rupture @ 1:00p but after awhile he/she escapes but we both stay in system (no session change) then let's say same Rupture gets destroyed an 1hr later in the same system then I should be on the mail even thou I haven't engaged the target in 45-50 mins, that would bloat the KM by having a load of dmg taken and every rat (NPC) that shot at it on there as well.(again theory)

I didn't engage in my Typhoon. By the time I returned the Stratios had been dealt with. So I only dealt damage from my drones with my Retriever, but I was in warp on my way back in the Typhoon when the Stratios went down. Hence why there's a Typhoon on the kill mail and not a Retriever.

or does changing ships cause a Session Change? I know back in the day there was a "waiting" period to change ships and i do believe it was a session timer. this was changed back in Incursion i believe. (correct me if i'm wrong on that).
