The removal of the new turret Icons

I noticed that the new turret icons are removed on Singularity, and instead the old ones came back.
I think the new ones from Incarna looked much better. The old ones looks just plain old and boring and they dont even look remotely like the turrets on the ship.

It is nicer to see how the guns looks like on the icons.

Why where they removed?

A lot of negative feedback.

Bad quality and hard to see icons next to targeted objects.

Are people still complaining about them or was it just in the beginning when they where new?
I was a bit sceptical when they released them, but now I have become very fond of them. I will really miss them.

If they actually took the time to physically retouch the 3d model screenshots that would read better after scaling and not turn into a blur down to targeted icon size that melt into the black background as they don't have a proper border . I wouldn't mind the new icons for each turret type.
They can always reintroduce them after they get visibility problems solved. New isn't always better right away, like the failed redesigned neocom last year.

Tractors/Salvager icons were especially awful compared to the old versions - pretty much just black smudges on the black background of space.

Other icons had similar issues of not enough contrast.

(And don't get me started on the whole "dark green" for activated modules vs the "bright green" that was used before. Now you have to stare at the module for a second to figure out whether it's on or off in a lot of systems where the background is brighter then average.)

It was never about hating change or new things. It was always about hating the loss of usability when the icons were turned to pictures. If the complaining about them stopped at some point, it's only because people got tired of repeating themselves. At times I still can't see if my guns are even activated by looking at the new icons or what their target is, since they blend to the background so well. I have nothing against new icons as long as they serve their purpose as clearly visible icons, instead of just being blurry pictures you have to squint at to tell what they are or even if they are there at all.

I too loved the new turret icons, hate to see them change back to the old ones....
If possible, please make it an option to show the old icons or the new pictures CCP

No, the new ones suck. They are 3D renderers and not icons, so they don't match the rest of the icon set, aren't easily distinguishable and suffer from visual information overload. Someone at CCP should be hit in the head with a book about design theory to learn what the icon word means.

Also, they are rendered real-time. Managing an hangar full of modules is unbelievably painful since there's a lag to load each picture.

The new icons had a pretty low contrast to their backgrounds (black on black as stated above).

The old icons, being very high contrast, made identifying them much easier
