Thats what happened- all the defenders capitals got stuck in jump tunnels for hours even though they appeared on grid and were targetable. Pretty much the only thing that was working was titan doomsdays.

It was a turkeyshoot and the defenders lost over 300 dreadnoughts without being able to fight back.

And we all know that's what happens when you drop 1000 ships onto the 2700 already in system.

That is 900 N3/PL ships, cause they left plenty of room on the node for CFC to come in.

2800 CFC and pet ships.

Their intention was to crash the node, but seems they got what they were trying to dish out.

Now we get all the nummy Goon Tears to feed on.

There was 4000 in 6VDT and they dropped 150 dreads just fine. Also CCP patched and fixed the things that were causing node crashes, we all knew this.

There is always something like my old influence sov system.

I kind-of like this, but you need another layer above Alliance to make it work. A Sovereignty Block or something like that, with a designated holder, but for whom any affiliated players, alliances or corporations could contribute to the holding of said sovereignty. There are areas in Eve where you are free to operate without being a member of the sov holding alliance you see. You don't want to wake up one morning to discover you'd taken sov from the holder in a particular system just because your toons spend all of their time there and the holder doesn't, especially if there are costs involved.

But I think the main point is that the players want big battles and so do CCP, and with your idea there would be gentle change rather than big set-piece encounters. I like it but quite a few others wouldn't.

Every other thread about it in the past few days has just been an incoherent whine thread about how them and their 20 friends are quiting. Anyone mind explaining what this is all about?

Basically every now and then a massive fleet fight happens in EvE online and contrary to fanbois and marketing hype these fights suck and are unplayable due to crushing lag. Essentially the large fleet fight of EvE online is a lie.

Shocked

In response to these crushing lag fests you will hear things from CCP such as gregorian chants of 'TiDi', whispers of 'brains in a box' or perhaps 'server remaps'...but ultimately you join a large nullsec alliance and take part in such fights at direct peril to your bladder and colon, as you await 8 hours realtime for your modules to activate in these masochism fests, reminiscent of being repeatedly d1ck punched by a midget...

I have often asked for CCP to add a 'poop bucket required at desk for large fleet engagements' clause to the EULA, but such calls have always gone unanswered.

So the Fc jumped everything onto of PL thinking it would be fine and would never cause a server issue. The result was a a proper cluster **** and now we have many many posts from CFC crying about eve is broken
So you are saying it's not broken? A hard limit on the number of active pilots in a system is a good gameplay mechanic?

No, but asininely ordering your forces to jump into a system and ONTO THE SAME GRID as they did is what directly led to the harvest of tears we're currently seeing.

Hey - you tried to bring overwhelming firepower directly into the fight, instead of jumping into the system, and THEN warping to the battle.

And ALMOST got what you wanted. Except that the server refused to crash.

Next time, I'm betting, we'll see you bring even greater numbers, but with less expensive ships. I'm predicting an incredibly massive CFC Drone Fleet(tm) will crash the server when the battle terrain doesn't favor you.

EDIT: Because Goon Tears - Rubicon 1.1
