I don't know the current scene so well, but in the past many pirate corps were looking for slightly more established pilots. also in RvB I would guess you would meet many players who have older nastier pirate alts (at least that was how it used to be). From what I've seen Eve-Uni doesn't seem all that great but I've not participated. and I'm not really sure about brave newbies.

that said with FW going on there is probably a ton of frig pvp in many lowsec areas that could get you off to a good start Pirate

Thanks for all the replies! Ive got a long ways to go and lots to learn.

Attempted to go out solo last night! Ive got a steep learning curve ahead of me.....
I picked a dead end system with 3 low sec stops....think the first one was sangain?(sp) anyways it seemed like a good place to start...the day count in system was 20ships killed 6 pods killed. Figured i would find something in there. Long story short im pretty sure i got played like a fool.

I found a Iteron V that i attempted to chase and engage in my Executioner. The pilot must of realized what i was attempting to do as we both jumped from gate to gate forming a giant circle. Every time i would land next to him on gate about 3km away i wasn't able to engage.....would always get a message he was invulnerable and a second or two later he would warp off. As the frustration was about to start climbing i realized i was being an idiot....He didn't need to call for help...he was waiting for me to aggro and get popped by the sentry guns! Luckily i guess i finally realized this before actually being able to lock and shoot....sadly the feeling that follows is a crappy one as i lower my head in shame and return home to study more forums/videos in the hopes of finding where i failed and how to prevent this in the future.

This was only my first attempt and Ive walked away with a numbers of things i did wrong.....I will attempt to correct these wrongs and will continue my pursuit of a pirates life! Pirate

Don't hang your head in shame. Be aware that you learned a lesson and even better it was free.

Frigates cannot survive sentry fire although one volley may not kill you outright (so you might escape).

I had a similar lesson once when I found a Skiff mining in lowsec and thought 'ooh, ransom opportunity'. (I was in a Catalyst, fitted for highsec ganking so no tank but I did have a warp scrambler). I located the mark with D-Scan, locked him, scrammed and asked for a ransom while shooting his shields slowly - only to realise that I could not tank the ship's drones even long enough to shoot them down.

Lesson learned, and I disengaged feeling silly but not worried because it was an error I would not repeat.

he-he-he arrr.. You know you can go for legal piracy, sanctioned by your empire, right? Learn/experience how to actually operate in battle etc with lots of targets and wanting to fight you. FW isn't exactly military rank and standards, they are militia, patriot-pirates e.g. such as the privateers of the American revolution which made up most of the fleet, even looked down on by the British as no better than pirates... and some were traditionally. Life just isn't Pirates of the Caribbean.

"Evil" does not exist as real life morality and ethics don't get applied in the same way in Eve. Are protection rackets wrong and evil? Sure. Are they regarded as such in Eve? Not really, except by some naive people. Same goes for ransoming (which is actually often seen as good and honorable), war, theft, and a number of other stuff.

Power flows from the barrel of a gun, and might makes right. So long as you're in control, you decide who and what you are, and what others call you is irrelevant.

Come and join us in low sec.

No minimum skill points or prior experience required, more a matter of if your personality is a fit. If you can fit a frigate with guns and a point, we'll teach you how to hunt people with it. Look up our history on BattleClinic's kill boards for examples of what can be done with a low SP pilot can do. We've had people with a month in game out getting solo kills.
