Mechanical Keyboard Indecisiveness

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to buy a mechanical keyboard because the Logitech K120 is... well... a Logitech K120. It's cheap, squishy, and stupidly annoying to type on.

Aside from an FPS every once in a while, I mostly am playing EVE or typing up documents for extended lengths of time - and that leads me to my question. What mechanical keyboard switch would be best suited for me between Cherry MX Blues and Browns? I understand the difference between them, however I'd like to get your guys's personal experiences before I make a decision.

Any of you have a mechanical keyboard? By chance have you had experience with more than one switch? Which one do you prefer and why?

Some things to note: Noise factor is not an issue, nor is cost, and I'm not looking for a brand or keyboard suggestion - just the switch type.

Think I still have a couple old IBM keyboards around here somewhere... Heavy, industrial, ugly, noisy, and indestructable. Twisted

TBH, I don't really care one way or the other, either style works for me. The Blue is noisy, but light - and still has a tactile feature. The Brown is quiet and even lighter, but also with the tactile element. Really, it boils down to noise, the choice between the switches. You say it doesn't matter, so I'd probably go with the blue - you get the audible cue and the tactile cue, and difference between keystroke weight is negligible.

I use a Filco Ninja Majestouch-2 with brown switches. (Link) It's my first mechanical keyboard. I've had it for about two years now, and I can easily say that it's the best keyboard I've ever used. Brown switches are nice because they don't have the springy *click* that many other Cherry switches have. The clicking isn't a bad thing if you can tolerate the sound. I just wanted something quieter than what you usually find. Granted, being a mechanical keyboard, it's still louder than your average product.

I have a Ducky Shine 3 with brown switches and I love it.

But to you OP, all I can really say is go to a store and ask if you feel for yourself.

I kill kittens, and puppies and bunnies. I maim toddlers and teens and then more.
