Sentry Glitch or Normal Game Mechanic?

I engaged a domi with my stealth bomber. He dropped sentries and started to agress me. After he died, his pod warped away, but I kept being shot at by the bouncers. The bouncers were still shooting over a minute after the domi was destroyed. I was receiving the damage (or rather the lack of damage) notifications. When I warped away, my aggression timer started confirming that I was actually being shot.

Someone said that this happens when the sentries auto-agress, but I've never heard of this feature. Is this new, a glitch, or a game mechanic that always existed?

If this is not a glitch, this would be a great way to maintain DPS on the field even after your ship is destroyed.

Im more amazed on the fact that the fat potato's pilot droped sentries to swat your fly instead of warrior2's or any other small drone..

Recently I had an issue where I destroyed a drone boat, grabbed what loot I could then moved towards the drones to destroy them(because I will not allow ec-300s to live) and.......they jammed me. This was after having looted a wreck, picked out some trash loot from my own cargohold, and shot the wreck.

this is a known issue i think.

Also has been observed to happen with mobile defense batteries even after the tower has died.
