See, Delaware is the only state east of the Mason-dixon. All others are either north or south or west of it. We are the ultimate border state, and Slower DE is much like most regions of the south - slower-paced, agricultural, and a bit more socially conservative. Whilst I tecnically live in the portion of the state called 'Upper,' I find Slower to be more comfortable.

Ahh!

I always forget that the 'line' turns 90 degrees south at Deleware (/.*)

Should call them the Mason Dixon Lines Lol

Actually, the one anyone really cares about ends where the Maryland/Pennsylvania lines meet the Delaware line. About three miles from where I live.
During the Late Unpleasantness, Delaware had underground railways going *both* directions, and whilst it stayed a tecnically 'Union' state, escaped POWs had no problem at all finding their way back home through the state. Of course, the state also produced some of the most ferocious Union Army units as well, but I think that was more about "the only fight we've got" than any passion for the cause. For a small state, we've got a strong history of scrapiness.

Also; a strong history of organized and unorganized crime. Aside from the underground railways (criminal in each direction), and escapee-smuggling, smugglers of all other manner of goods, and gamblers liked the place too. Until we finally took reponsibility for it, there was a tiny triangle of land that belonged to no state, thanks to cartographic error - A fine hole of scum and vilainy. Made Calcutta look like Vatican City.

More cold on the way, if maybe not quite so drastic as last week.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Greetings SE LA! So happy to see all the southerners posting!

I dont mind the cold, hell compared to the rest of the year down here the 3 months that it isnt 100% humidity and never less than 95 degrees outside is a blessing.

Yall help keep the thread growing, maybe if we can get enough folks interested we can do a southern pilots meet and greet and have supper some time. Glad to see more of us comin outta the woods every day!

Greetings southern transplants! thanks for chiming in! Hows the food over in Korea and Italy? Ive had actual mexican food cooked by actual mexicans in Mexico, was pretty much the same as here lol.

Whats everyones favorite local restaurant where yall live? Im lookin for the best little hole in the wall and mom and pop places where the good stuff is served.

The Red Pearl here in Bham is amazing Asian food, its where the local Asians eat when they want home cookin.

I'm on a quest to find good Tex-Mex in the New York City area. There's real Mexico Mexican and California Mexican. And there are places that claim to be Tex-Mex, but use Cuban black beans instead of pintos. Can you imagine that? Fraudulent "Tex-Mex."

By the way, a co-worker brought me some pork rinds from Colombia. Amazingly, they taste exactly like Southern pork rinds. I guess a fried pork rind is a fried pork rind, anywhere in the world. Smile

Woot, I found beef brisket in a New York Walmart grocery store! Brisket is usually sold as corned beef around here, so it's really hard to find an uncured chunk for barbecuing. Hopefully Walmart still has some around when the weather's warmer. (I'm a wuss-- no barbecuing in 16 degree weather Blink).
