Salvaging worth training for?

I have 3 accounts and am setup in low sec., Basically out of boredom of the mining grind I started taking my Orca out as an aggro tank to belts to get Sancha while my stealth bomber picked them off. Wanting something else to do I was thinking of getting into salvaging, as I leave plenty of wrecks in my wake. The only question I have is is it really profitable. As I said this is close to null so the wrecks are pretty decent. But mining is about the only thing that can support 3 accounts and a POS. Just wondering if going out with a tank (I would train another ship) and a bomber is going to pay as well as mining.

As I understand you ask if Salvaging brings more money than mining. No, it won´t, but you could get money from salvage on top of what you mine. Just put a tractor and a salvager on your hauler, and get those wrecks you create anyway. Skilltime: a few days to get Salvaging to IV.

I got it to 3 and I make 10 to 13 mil from salvaging each run.. Not sure if that's high or not.

From what I've heard, Salvaging IV makes sense if you're doing at least level IV missions. If you're doing lower level, you are better off blitzing. If you aren't doing missions yourself, it depends if you want to try ninja-salvaging.

You might have the third accounter salvaging after orca/bomber kill's the NPC's.
Or as above stated......... the orca pilot can while the bomber pick's off the NPC'S.

I trained salvaging to 4 because I plan on actually needing it in a little while. If you are making wrecks out of boredom then I would at least get it to lvl 3 which would only take about a day or so. Every now and then you will get a good drop from a player ship which would make it worth it. Just think long run, you never know what you might destroy in the future so having it never hurts.

As a bonus to mission running, it's quite good. In high sec it is essentially free money. I've encountered all of a single ninja-salvager in high sec, so they aren't even a problem really.
A typical level III security mission may only pay out half a mil in actual pay with bonus, but I get several million more out of salvaging up my wrecks afterwards. This is also just hitting the sell button on this stuff and not maximizing the profits.
Earlier today I ran a level III mission for just over a half mil payout. After salvage I had about 5 mil more on top, and combat free....

I just refit an old destroyer I used in my first week playing. Thrasher with a 10 mn AB, couple tractors and 4 salvagers.

If you manufacture rigs, it's a way to get components too. Some salvage is worth a ton, alloy bars, tritanium bars, and sometimes decent loot drops.
Considering the zero effort it takes, and how safe it is (at least in high sec) for the amount of isk it brings-- I'd say it's certainly worth it. You can at least toss a salvager module on your mission ship, but having a dedicated destroyer to clean up makes it go much much faster.

In case you plan on using a Noctis for salvaging (talking more about missions here now), grab the Elite Core Targeting certificate first. It improved my overall salvaging speed a lot more compared to more levels in Salvaging. Otherwise Salvaging IV is probably more than enough, unless you'd like to use Salvager IIs.
