So Im thinking about joining an NPC FW corp for a few weeks, but as Ive been reading up on it I came across this:

Shooting your own FW militia member/container/wreck will result in a security status hit, CONCORD aggression-flagging in high-security space, and a standing hit with your own faction.

Id really like to try FW for a bit, but Id rather not have to worry about getting shot by "friendly" militia members.. How often does this happen in low-sec space?

it happens but usually not that often. If you don't know somebody don't trust him. People in search for easy kills can do this only a few times since they will be set red by the majority of militia earlier or later.

most friendly fire is caused due to wrong overview settings however since CCP doesn't provide good defaults for the overview. Players enter FW, see suspects or outlaws and fire.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

This is definitely the biggest issue. Flashy red/orange/whatever (I use colours I personally prefer for various things) shows up with higher priority than militia or fleet, so you'll often have general militia folk who haven't been told yet killing you because they don't have a corp telling them about this mistake and how to fix it.

Many people look at npc corp members as free kills. Truth is - a lot of LP thieves is in that corp, so if you shoot a member you can still talk your way out of it.

Let's be honest - every militia member shot a LP thief at some point. I know I did and I'm not super, extra, local raging savage.

I'm considering joining a militia with this character and I think I will start a one man corp. Many people won't bother to inspect that closely and will be affraid of you having buddies to back you up or enough political support to actually make his CEO bother.

*** Anecdote inc - stop reading ***

A buddy of mine got shot recently. His in a npc corp cause he rages a lot. He still got his money back from the aggressor's CEO but a) the corp was ok I gess b) he has friends and pvps a lot, people know him

If your pirate and in FW sometimes other members of your own miltia will target you if they havent got their overview setup correctly, most people realise their mistake though.

Id be weary of other "allied" faction militia members you encounter though.
