Is anyone else put off from fleet pvp by Teamspeak?

Its an immersion killer, and I hate it. But all corps seem to require it.

Imagine you are a fleet commander and you warp your fleet from a station undock to a titan pos so you can bridge your fleet to your destination. Suddenly a hictor decloaks 20km off your titan pos and lights a cyno. An Archon comes through and lights another cyno.

12 Machariels come through the second cyno and begin to bump your titan pilot out of the pos, a hostile Dominix fleet comes through last and begins to kill your fleet which is now bubbled on the edge of a pos they cant get into because the titan pilot had to change the pos password to avoid being bumped out.

You begin typing: guys guys guys- hang on while I type out these instructions...

Meanwhile your fleet is dead and you are still furiously typing and backspacing changing instructions with the shifting battlefield.

(This actually happened- and no, no one is ever gonna command a fleet with text only thats idiotic)

In the days of flying spaceships between solar systems voice to voice communication is an immersion killer?
why not join a RP corp and pretend to be space people together.
surely fleet communication via text is a bigger immersion breaker considering the tech we have access to?

Immersion killer?

Look man, if you're playing this game for RP that's one thing, but all effective PvP and PvE forces use voice. Furthermore, why on earth would you be averse to making real friends with people? That's what this game has always been about for me. The politics, communities and daily operations of all good EVE corporations require solid, sustained and frequent voice communications. There is simply no way around this.

Pure text went out at the turn of the last century. End of story.

Use Eve voice for a month.

Don't worry, teamspeak will be there for you when you come crawling back.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Before teamspeak was common, people actually typed ingame, and it's still doable, but ofc not as good.
I guess it depends abit on how well oiled the gang is and if they know what to do.
I saw some alliance recruiting a while ago, they where non-teamspeak, can't recall the name.

Im trying to infiltrate an alliance, and im roleplaying a 42 year old war veteran, and im afraid if they get me on teamspeak, my voice will crack and they'll learn I am 12.

So far, ive been able to fool them with my 'Supr xlent tots amaze txt spek' and my complete inability to use the correct version of you're, your, they're, their and there..but I think my cover is wearing thin... I may need to resort to desperate measures....

The problem here isnt corps. Its you. Your idea that it kills immersion is ridiculous. Are you saying in spaceships we dont have a bloody radio system?

"Before teamspeak was common" refers to a period of time before TQ went live for the first time.

You can still have immersion and teamspeak. This comes from my own personal experience.

Just like real naval fleets communicate in real time. Why would you not have the same for space craft. if anything it should make you feel more immersed.

I hate Teamspeak, too. Voice chats in general. Makes it really hard to continue pretending I'm actually a girl to dupe desperate kids out of their ISK and other goodies. A little flirtatious text and a ~<3 or =^_^= in a text chat are much easier to work with.

At least EvE Voice makes it easier, and it isn't difficult to convince someone who wants to voice chat that you don't want to give out your TS account to a random person.

Talk is cheap, but Void S and Quake L are cheaper.
