I am officially starting a rumor that team Avatar is working on WiS for iOS and Android tablets using the Unreal Engine. The project is backed by Nvidia's resources and personnel as well as Unreal themselves. (Seems Cormack has some friends there. EVE Valkyrie has made quite a few headlines from the demo.) The client will be out for Tegra tablets first, followed by all Android tablets, then iPad, and finally small screen devices.

Things that can be done:


  • Captain's quarters replicated in low poly renders, full avatar render, however it's third person over the shoulder. (mirror shows avatar)
  • Menus are rendered as objects, much like CQ is now.
  • Eve voice / chat channels
  • Full connectivity to TQ.
  • Skill training / change skills
  • Wallet (market is a possibility, but technical limitations have restricted them to modifying existing orders in the wallet UI.)







tl;dr: It's possible to do WiS as EVE mobile; but this is a dream, not a reality.

Firstly, rumor-mongering is against teh rules.

Secondly, what good is WiS on tablets independent of EVE itself?

Though the idea of an app that lets you connect to TQ for chat channel access....+10 on that.

It's not rumor mongering. I present a possible situation and note it as such (very clearly) at the bottom of the post. I am merely presenting this in a way that garners attention.

Naw, first the project is started with lot's of fanfare and hype, then it get's second guessed by the company who then back peddle and ultimately abandon the project.
