If they could be converted back into cash then you may have a point, but they can't legally (in CCP's view) .. Heck, modules being dropped can be sold to make ISK to buy PLEX .. It's exactly the same, whether they are tech 1 or faction.

It's fairly easy ..

Money converted to Plex = CCP gets cash.
Plex converted to money = CCP doesn't make $15 .. Oh no, sky falls in! (Not to mention that it is against the UELA)
Modules converted to ISK converted to Plex = CCP gets cash.

So you are complaining that CCP is not making some money from this and someone gets to play for free for a month.

CCP gets money every time the sell a plex. But those plexes also have a very important in game value. When they just generate them out of thin air it causes INFLATION. They basically just devalued everything in the market.

Which is a huge insult to players as it means their IRL money they spend on plex is now worth less.

There are many other issues with the way you are trying to logic this out. But Plex is a form of currency and has a IRL dollar amount value.

You have to understand the context, Inflation is based generally on the idea that one currency will increase in comparison to a fixed resource. For a start off, any "helicopter drop" by CCP of a few dozen PLEX, or even a hundred equates to a drop in the ocean of the Plex market, it will be absorbed .. Why? Well, The PLEX market is already overheated due to other factors, devaluing a "currency" (i.e. ISK) would require much more than a few (i.e. sub thousand) drops.

You could actually argue that by dropping a resource against a fixed currency you devalue a largly overinflated resource to a more rational level much as QE does.

Ok, I will put this another way, 2 months ago I bought 5 years worth of Plex due to my IRL economic state, it had no reaction on the market. The same will be true of this event.

I know I am devaluing your argument which I know you have a legitimate concern for but you have to put it in context.

P.S. Oh and Ninja'd Page 21

P.P.S Inflation doesn't work in this context as CCP actually causes deflation by dropping items because they control the conversion ratio.

CCP would have to give away thousands of PLEX in order to make the "IRL money they spend on plex...worthless" - something they won't do. The effects of the loot from on the PLEX market is like me peeing in a lake - it isn't going to do anything at all noticeable.

Also, PLEX is not a form of currency. You cannot, through legal means, convert a PLEX into any form of real money. I know you're going to tell me that because you pay $15 for a PLEX, and PLEX is therefore worth $15, but its not a two way street.

$15 will get you a PLEX, and a PLEX will get you as much ISK as you can get someone to pay for it.

Put Simply:

$15 = 30 days of game time
30 days of game time can be converted to PLEX
PLEX = X amount of ISK

This does not mean X amount of ISK = $15
This does not mean PLEX = $15

If CCP starts letting you convert ISK or PLEX to real money, then CCP legally becomes a bank and ISK a legal currency, meaning CCP has to abide by the laws that govern financial institutions instead of the laws that govern game software companies. This would not only be dumb, but cause CCP financial armageddon and destroy EVE immediately.

In simple terms:

PLEX IS NOT A CURRENCY
ISK IS NOT A CURRENCY

Only thing we got is an time. The simple fact we caved in slavery payed by cash so someone can make imaginary value/power from our time. Is not really something to sport for.

Just goes to show, you aren't a large well accomplished alliance in eve until you are being handheld by the devs of the game itself.

Yeah, enjoy your free in-game items because we all know you haven't ever done any real work in your life to deserve it so you might as well get it handed to you for free just like everything else in your pathetic little world - right chump?

When the lot of you lame ass scammers and wannabe pirates grow some ball hair and earn what you get by working for it then when will all consider you more than just over grown children that have some simpletons complex against other people, maybe because you yourselves are failures at life itself so you need to abuse others in a video game.

Sounds about right.

And as for this event, they can shove it. Wasn't interested in it and it is an obvious free hand out to the twats that ruin this game and a big FU to all of us legit players that try to actually earn what we have in the game rather than take it/steal it/buy it/etc.

Oh well, got real games to play: BF3, skyrim, soon at some point PSO2. Sorry CCP, but you fail and you will only continue to lose more and more legit customers if you keep hand feeding these garbage eating trolls that only make your product worse and drive more of your customers away.

There is no atmosphere (no pun intended) in this game anymore, it's pretty much a dead excuse for a revenue stream to iceland. I knew that from the beginning though and my stupid mistake was ever thinking this was an interesting venture when they've admitted themselves that this is simply a revenue stream to iceland and practically runs icelands economy. Yeah, all that money could go to your respective country and help your local area instead.

What I mean by "no atmosphere" is there is no respect in the game, no "high level". The people who have lots of stuff can't be respected because the things can be "purchased" out of game without doing any work to deserve it, this takes ALL of the atmosphere out of the game and makes it a certified Pay to Win game and nothing more, anyone that doesn't want to invest all of their time and money into eve need not apply because that's what you must do to make this game worthwhile in any facet. Or be a mindless robot and change your own perception to enjoy it, but I'd rather just highlight the problems and move onto something that's actually enjoyable and not just a waste of my life time; -insert any P2P online game here- WURM is a good one to list, that one will truly waste every second of your life and you will never accomplish anything at all, just like in EVE! Nothing but a waste of your money and a literal waste of your real life time - something you don't have unlimited amounts of.

Did you people really spend the last several years playing this game instead of living life? That is the saddest part of all of this, really, it is. While I was out living you guys were playing this half-assed space game that doesn't even feature realistic space mechanics.

I'm going to blame myself for incarna, it was totally the players' fault. CCP offering us something "unique and exciting" is a 50 man fleet? Thats so exciting, unique, bla bla bla. I was looking for the opportunity to fight against CCP, as soon as I heard they were sitting in Tama, then 10 minutes later still in Tama, then a half hour later STILL in Tama, I found it pointless to consider participation. What resulted was those with supers dropping them on field, LOLing in vent, and bears from Jita scooping as much loot as they could.

All CCP would have taken away from that is their supercap nerf is necessary, and I doubt they learned anything about PvP. All the while adding 60 or so PLEX to the market - the only item that is created when somebody spends IRL money. Honestly, do you think people would be complaining like they are if a bunch of t1/t2 mods dropped?

Hmm, you know, i think your corp is butt hurt that it didn't get to enjoy any of the PHAT CCP LEWTZ. (mind you, neither did i)

You know, i can construct an argument just as well as your sad twisted little mate, RougeWarrior, here goes:

Oh noez, i didn't get no PLEX's or shtuffs from ccp for free, GIMME FREE SHTUFFS NAO, ETHICS ETHICS ETHICS herpity derpity waaa waaa waaa.

Pretty good huh? I could sooooooo pass for him.

Your entire opinion of this event would be very ******* different if you got to scoop some of that loot i ******* bet.

I said to my corp mates when I first found out that CCP were dropping PLEX's that the forum was going to full of angry people.

CCP were in a no win situation.

People were always going to find an excuse to come on the forum and complain about something.

Its a pretty sad day when CCP do something like they did last night (which was cool by the way) only to have people ***** and moan.

I popped along in alt and got blasted by a goon (YAY Big smile) and yeah the lag was insane and yeah it was frustrating that PL turned up with their SC but so what, it was still a fun :)

Cheers CCP and don't let these moaning ****wits ever put you off from doing something like that again Big smile

Look at all these special snowflakes so very, very angry that someone else got a prize and they didn't

Remember that S15 episode of Southpark where it's Stan's birthday, but Cartman's mom gives Cartman a present every time Stan gets one "or he gets grumpy"?
