sig radius supression module

hey guys,

just had an idea cross my mind:

sig radius supression module

- high slot module

- module with a short activation time (around 4-7 seconds or so)

- giving a large decrease to sig radius on your ship for a very brief period (ie 90% sig radius reduction)

- relative long cooldown time of module (60 seconds or more)


i imagine a fragile ship like some tackle to use these few seconds to get under the guns of a larger opponent surviving brief moments of low transversal velocity.

or a pilot with good timing barely surviving being alphaed.

its basically a very short near invincibility option for ships in the size range of frigs/destroyers/cruisers

fitting, ship restrictions and cap use could balance the thing so that it doesnt go OP.

could be nice alternative to highslot modules like the bastion and triage but instead for smaller sized ships w/o directly affecting the decision the pilot made on tanking.

also i like the idea that skilled pilots can do alot with this and a good timing


has anyone had this idea before?

what do you guys think?

why would this be needed honestly. Small fast ships have the speed nad low sig to avoid being hit by the bigger guns and when they are far away and not having a high transversal is the only oppertunity for larger ships to kill them. Giving them a almost garunteed immunity to being shot on top of their already small size and high speed would completely throw the balance off. Ceptors have already been shown to be powerfull in small gangs against much larger ships. The only way this would be even close to fair is to reduce its speed in relation to its sig res reduction, which would pretty much make this module useless anyway.

Maybe. But you are putting a tank mod in a highslot. If it were a low/medium I could get behind it. It'd give everything with utility highs extra tank (sig reduction).

Plus, it'd be brutal for frig fights - if you activated it right at the beginning of a fight it would affect lock time.

My gut tells me no, it's not something I would want. Not a bad idea though.

This module already exists in item DB, it's just inactive and unobtainable. Perhaps couldnt be balanced at the time it was created. Active Stealth/Signature Suppression Systems

yes you are right in general.
the thing that keeps me still thinking this may be interesting is its burst nature and the possiblities that come with it.
