POS Mining Bonuses

So we started a POS and we are basically a mining and production corp.

As we all know we use orca for mining bonuses but lots of the time the orca pilots are not online and you as miner have a 180sec cycle time with t2 mine strippers and low yield. Miners cant enjoy the extra bonuses of the Rorquel in high sec as this can be only used in a 0.4.

This is just a crazy but super cool idea....

AYou can get all the refining bays and storage and other modules to add to your pos to make it better for the corp members and the corp it self, cant EVE create a module that give miners bonuses in that corp if the mine in the system :)

I know this wont happen as miners really need to mine a lot to make iskies or to build something but i think this could get more miners / indy pilots enjoying doing a really boring job.

Love to hear your comments on this.

For the alt suggestion: it only takes a few weeks to train one.

Here's a crazy supercool idea

Put some crystals in your strip miners.

Why not ? It's not like if it was fun to be in a boosting rorqual or orca, afk near a POS, anyway.

It's not like if with off grid boosting potentialy ending one day, people will start using their rorquals in industrial mode ON FIELD after that.

It's not like if POSes had any benefit for the miners currently, since POS refineries are crap.

So yes, why not ? You give more incentive for these players to choose a system, stick to it, and put a POS in it. And less need for people to stay afk because that's what the game mechanics want.

Get the characters with Orcas to just sit with their computer on in the POS running the bonuses with an corporation open fleet. Anyone in your corp can join to get the bonuses at any time. Done.

Also, CCP are currently looking for a feature to replace the POSes entirely. So I doubt you will get more POS modules from this point onward. Your more likely to get a mobile anchor-able structure that does it instead. That way people in highsec can turn up and shoot it for lols, and people might actually have to defend it. That would make much more sense.

Oh and why is that?

It literally takes about 14 days to train for an orca from scratch, considering the base skills also include the mining link skills you already have those, what else would you need to do with around 14 days of game time left :P

Miners don't enjoy mining, they enjoy the activity they do while mining. If you think your job is too boring, then do something else.

an orca hull doesn't magically give you max mining boosts, which is the purpose of an orca pilot.

Bonuses should only come from a ship or other entity that is in "danger" and vulnerable, at least to some degree.

This is EVE, or have you forgotten ?

what we really need, is a command ship version of the orca. something we can brick tank to **** like a damnation and has the mining link boosts the orca has, at the cost of all of the fancy extra ship bays, and ore bays, and all that jazz.

the problem with the orca is that it's too slow, has no real tanking ability other than "i hope concord gets here before i run out of structure hp"
having something with a bit more teeth at the expense of utility might make it easier to bring links on-grid without having to rely on the orca/rorqual which are basically big sitting ducks.

The Orca isn't a command ship already? OK, focused on mining, but...

Not really up on mining (aside from blowin' barges up), but Rorqs - what can they do for you?

it's an industrial command ship, which is totally different to a command ship.

and a rorq is basically an orca with a jump drive and it's an even bigger sitting duck as it has to be "deployed" to provide worth while boosts. (has no bonuses to links while not deployed (last i checked)) oh and they're limited to low/null.

You want max orca boosts without a trained orca pilot or an orca? lolno. Also, if you're a miner and you only have one account, then you pretty clearly don't give a damn about yield in the first place.

Considering the orca can out-ehp a freighter, and that its called an "industrial command ship," I don't really know what the problem is here.
