Dear CCP: Can I pretty please not interact with other players in this massively multiplayer online role-playing game?

I don't follow your reasoning.

OK, it's multiplayer game, that just means that a lot of people can play at the same time. Nowhere does it say that they have to cooperate or interact with other players if they do not wish to. The other bits are self-explanatory so don't need any discussion.

It's not in the rules so if someone wants to be anti-social then I see no reason to criticise them for playing the way that suits them.

Each to his or her own I say.

Marketing, trailers (especially stuff like the Butterfly Effect trailer), CCP statements and approaches, and even the recently published official New Player Q&A point to one thing:

EVE Online is essentially a PvP (Player versus Player) game at its core.

There is absolutely no credible source that says otherwise.

Joining a game with this purpose and reputation then proceeding to whinge about people not leaving you alone, and proposing completely unbalanced and heavyhanded mechanics to isolate yourself is like buying Battlefield 4 and complaining about the lack of swordfighting or basket-weaving, or playing Skyrim and complaining to Bethesda about the lack of multiplayer.

Eve Online where you can isolate yourself from all player interaction is not Eve Online.

The issue here lies with the 'One time only' mission design which dates right back to very early EVE. And the extreme value of the loot and the limited location. Meaning it is very easy for someone to camp the area in a perfectly designed ninja looting setup which gives them basically zero risk. Since to do the mission you are shoehorned into certain types of ships, and a certain engagement profile which gives them a free run at the mission objective to grab it.
If this was a redoable mission, (Which obviously it is since everyone can do it once, so it's not a 'One time only no matter who finishes it' event) then they couldn't engage in this sort of risk free play they are doing.
