Launcher - Apple multi-coloured spinning ball of death!

Greetings.

My mac client has pretty much always worked without any problems for so long as I can remember. However, I came home from work yesterday and as soon as I start Eve - the launcher opens up and before typing anything the multi-coloured spinning ball of death is displayed and then nothing happens. I have to force quit the launcher.

I have trawled the forums for help but not found anything exactly relevant. The closest i got was the advice to delete the config.ini file from another forum topic which did cause the launcher to start, then begin validating the client, but a couple of secs later it locks up again with the spinning ball.

Help and advice appreciated here - any ideas or suggestions?

Here I thought it was just the crappy internet connection here at Camp Shelby. This certainly worked for me. This probably ought to be pinned.
