"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 52/2013 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2013

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week 1/2014 from December 28th to January 3rd

  • Happy New Year!
    • We wish you all a Happy New Year 2014! Let's celebrate it with many explosions!

  • Fireworks now available!
    • The Fireworks are now available in the Noble Exchange. You might also check your redeeming system!

  • DDoS against EVE on New Years EVE
    • On New Year's Eve we saw a DDoS attack against Tranquility. CCP Explorer shows some details and how the situation was quickly resolved.

  • CCP Gargant's beautiful voice
    • When CCP Gargant led the New Player Training Exploration fleet, he was caught in a bubble and had to prove his talents as singer. The result is truly amazing. No one should think that flying with new players has to be boring!

  • Advent Calendar is working fine again
    • After a short hiccup, the EVE Advent calendar is working properly again as GM Spiral confirms. Maybe the Yule Lads just celebrated too much the arrival of the new year?

  • Scrambling pods
    • Is it possible to scramble pods even if one tries to warp away as fast as possible? (Ex-) pirate CCP Falcon has a word to say in this matter: yes, it is possible!

  • Specifically mark your own orders in the market UI
    • While some players mention that it would be very helpful if you could easily see which of all the orders on the market belongs to you, CCP karkur was quicker and points out that this is already possible. Well done, CCP karkur! Just go to the market window and its settings tabs where you can toggle the "Mark my orders" option.

  • Loading clouds to be optional
    • CCP Mankiller doesn't post often on the forums, but when he does, he is lightning fast! After players asked if displaying clouds can be turned off in the same way as engine trails due to graphic cards performance issues. CCP Mankiller replied in less than two hours that this is now possible with the Rubicon 1.1 release - if QA can approve.

  • Are jump gates manned?
    • An interesting question regarding the lore of EVE: are jump gates manned? At least most of the gates display shelter like constructions. CCP Falcon confirms that jump gates are indeed manned.

  • Newbie Newsletter?
    • Is there a newsletter or a specific out-of-game notification for new players regarding the New Player Training Sessions? Not at the moment, but current advertisement includes the launcher and notification in game in the help channels.

  • Pre-order items for the Collector's Edition not longer available
    • The pre-order items for the Collector's Edition (CE) were only available for those people who pre-ordered the CE. Ordering now will not give you those pre-order items any longer.

CCP Phantom, I absolutely love these weekly forum posts letting us know all the goings on in and outside of Eve. Even though I consider myself pretty up-to-date on everything Eve, there is obviously so much that I somehow miss. Thank you for keeping me informed.

What the gentleman above me said. I'm not joking when I say this is the only reason I visit the official EVE-Online forums, and I make sure to always log on in order to Like.

Shame that the new pair of Genolution implants is not supplied anymore. it would be awesome if we could plug them in without the ridiculously huge price tag getting in the way.
