Seriously though, if you caught the cloaky Tengu that pilot was either unlucky or he ****** up.
The blockade runner wasn't unlucky and he did everything right.

Besides, if there were actually no chance of the BR making it through your gatecamp alive, he could also cloak and MWD back to gate and I guarantee you he'd have probably survived that.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Think of all the things you can do while you wait at the gate with 99 friends. You are having way too much of a good time with them for it to be seen as intensive. You are having fun man.

You had that many people and you didnt bother to have at least a couple of instalock HICS?

Also, why would you send interceptors to the area he cloaked. Its not like he was doing the old T1 hauler trick where you cloak, align, uncloak, then warp. A crane warps cloaked and aligns fast as hell. He was off grid before you even tried to find him.

Also... this has to be a fake post anyway.

So you have a gate camp. Or, in other words, a blockade.

And a blockade runner managed to slip past you.

I fail to see the issue here.

This guy, is amazing.

Here, have several thousand internets. Big smile

I guess answer how many 2.5km spheres you need to fill ~12km sphere will help you to hunt those filthy blockade runners

It is time CCP stoped catering to minoritiy "QQ I have no friends" palyers and finally started giving advantages to larger organizations. (a) a mobile depot will not -store- a ship so you can reship to something combatish if you do run a blockade with a blockade runner.

(b) the residents can reship immediately after any loss, and have the ability to reship before engaging to a suitable counter.
having sov gives you docking rights, and gives you many days protection for an infinite pile of ships. In some cases you can reship and rejoin a combat action before it even finishes.

A squatter has to fight with whatever horse he flew in on, and when they lose, they ride the pod express home. Or if you are cruel (or they foolishly warp off), they get the all stations train.

Since the server ticks every second, interceptors are not the best choice to uncloak things, because it is quite hard to manage the speed to quickly join the right area without going too fast inside it.

So, protip, once you start trying to decloak people, limit yourself to 2km/sec

Wow, who would have thought that a big brave gate camper could cry such a tragic river of tears? Makes some carebears look positively brave!

Next time bring 200 ships or even a thousand. That should even the odds enough to dry those tears you poor widdle thing.

AFK gate camper wants game mechanic changed to guarantee himself 100% success rate?

Really?

OK. But only if AFK miners and haulers in hisec get guaranteed immunity from suicide gankers.

Yes, your argument makes about as much sense as that.

I think the 100% success rate gave it away, otherwise I'd have given 10/10

So you're saying that gate camping should be massively nerfed and that your little group should probably be subject to some GM scrutiny?

Sounds about right.

A fleet that size and your wasting your time gate camping?

One could almost believe you would rather go for sure, easy and almost zero risk kills than take the time, effort and chance of looking for an interesting and challenging fight.

Surface area of a sphere = 4*pi*r^2
Area of a circle = pi*r^2

Challenge: Paste as many of those decloaking circles as you can around the sphere people will land in when they jump the gate.

Measure the radius of the bounding sphere of the gate, add 15km for the landing distance from that sphere, write that number down and call it Rg.

Figure a ship with drones out can reliably cover a ~4km radius circle for decloaking.

Approximate Number of ships needed (Ns) = 4*pi*Rg^2 / pi*4^2

Simplifying...

Ns = Rg^2 / 4

Measure your gate, count the ships. Easy peasy.

Properly spacing your internet spaceship monkeys around the sphere is left as an exercise for the reader.
