o/

Ive recently starting skilling into rockets. Was just wondering if t2 rockets work similarly to t2 projectile ammo in the sense that they will have a penalty equivalent to the tracking penalty t2 ammo gets.

Now i havent been lazy and i googled this and found that javelin type rockets get -7.5% ship velocity penalty. and rage type rockets get +7% signature radius penalty.

but what do these two penalties actually mean?

Also due to these penalties are faction rockets better for pvp against targets of the same size?

Im guessing that the t2 rockets works the same as t2 ammo and is better against targets that are bigger and slower than you whereas faction rockets will be better against targets the same size (frigate) just looking for confirmation.

cheers.

Yes, faction rockets = universal, javelins = longer range, lower damage, furies = bigger explosion radius, max dps if target is properly tackled/painted.

That's outdated info. Previously, loading Javelin would slow down your ship but that's no longer the case.

I'll compare the different types to normal T1 ammo.

- Faction: simply does 12% more dps. "generic pvp ammo"
- T2 Rage: less speed/range, more base damage but has more issues hitting smaller/faster targets. Still, it works better than faction ammo even against frigates (both AB as MWD)
- T2 Javelin: more speed/range, about 10% less damage compared to T1 ammo

If you brawl you want to use T2 rage.

If you kite you still want to use rage, but probably have to use faction (tiny bit more range, less dps) or are forced to use Javs (much more range, much less dps).

With meh skills you never have to worry about the enemies sig rad even with rages. The only thing that hurts rocket dps is speed, so fit web/s.

im planning to brawl mainly but i guess thats totally dependant on what ship im fighting.

If rocket damage is all about enemy speed then im guessing a web is pretty much mandatory.

This must also mean that i can orbit close to increase my transversal on them without reducing my own chance to hit correct?

If so i guess i should have looked into rockets sooner lol.

ty for ur replies.

Against frigates I feel like I have better luck with faction rockets. For anything bigger than frigates I use Rage.

The exception is if I'm flying a dual-web rocket boat. Then it's T2 Rage all the way to the killmail.

t2 missiles are very different from t2 gun-ammo. Tracking and explosion radius/velocity are analagous in theory, but not in practice, and this is merely a reflection of the differences in the weapon systems themselves. T2 missiles are much more common in PVE compared to t2 gun ammo, in general.
