War reporter ship - The space TV-VAN

If you want to record a battle and perhaps make a nice video for whatever purpose, the worst thing that can happen to you is.. pop Roll
How about a ship or a "bracket" to identify someone who is just going to videotape a fleet/battle?
Maybe a new ship that cannot target and can't fit any mods, or maybe just a shuttle with a proper "reporter" bracket visible to everyone. Something like a "TV-Van" Cool

Maybe its a wild idea but I've considered many times making trips to null sec just to record battles but of course the most likely outcome is my own horrible death on camera Shocked
Any neutrals might be allowed access to videotape a battle if both fleets allow it simply by not shooting it.. and maybe smiling for the camera Lol
Even a shuttle could work for this, all I would need is a known "reporter tag" that any pilot would recognize.. and maybe they will let you pass.

Its not like soldiers on the battlefield in real life ever *cough* aim for reporters *cough* ... Right? Roll

2. I need to put my alt *cough* reporter on the safe autopilot way to the other edge of universe
3. I just lost my (super)carrier and i quickly move my 5b clone to a reporter position.

Thats the danger that any war reporter has in real life and yet some are left alone as soon as both sides trust them as simply reporters and nothing more.

But yeah, every now and then you hear "on the news" (oh the irony) that one of them got shot.

How about a deploy-able camera drone station that records the entire battle in 3-d for review later?

Non targetable, lasts until downtime and expensive as all hell.
It would stream the important data to your Hard drive for later review.

Just create a character called "WNR Something" (War-News Reporter) create a corp called "War Reporters" buy some shuttles name them "Reporter" and you are ready to go including tags. << Or something similar along those lines...

You can expand the corp with similar thinking ppl and if you do it right and gain some prestige as corp - based on your neutrality, maybe you would be allowed to do just what you said in the middle of crushing fleets.

Just make sure to avoid smartbombs, bombs and rogue drones. :D

OP - in a game where intel wasn't as important as it is in EVE your suggestion would be great. As it is, I would shoot this ship with extreme prejudice.

Yeah... can't really be a ship :/ Too many exploitable scenario's, too obvious, and yeah... P much everyone would shoot it cause Lol why not?

An anchor-able, non-warp-able structure? THAT might have some use. But... really, I don't think the current method needs changed.

As an official representative and CEO of Allied Press Intergalactic, my corp for the last 5 years, I totally endorse this idea. Please don't shoot me, I'm obviously an impartial observer, and clearly not someone's cyno alt. That all my loss mails on the killboards since forever have had cynos fitted is uh... the result of investigative reporting. Yeah, investigative reporting...


Ok, serious now, I would totally shoot this ship; in a fleet fight, I would prioritize it over anything that wasn't shooting at me personally. I would even shoot it over a blue/purple mobile tractor unit, and those are a very high priority target.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.
