how bad is trashing standings with main factions of the game?

Hello I am back in the game after 3 years. Because I dont have much time I want to join the FW to have some quick low sec pvp. I actually joined last week for a day (to test the waters) I had my first solo kill with a punisher! and it was a blast.

I am joining amarr and I am worried that the low standings may become a problem In case that eventually I might join a 0.0 corp/alliance with space (or interests) near gallente/minmatar areas.

Is that a problem or am I worrying too much?

And now the serious answer.

I wouldn't worry much about it. Training Diplomacy can help and there are ways to repair your standings with opposed factions.

In short, go blow up slaves.

Ya if its not that bad yet, just train the skill to counteract it.

However, if for some reason the standing is REALLY low, then it will be a pain in the ass to fix, although it can be fixed with time. All it does is restrict access to highsec as far as the po po's are concerned (not Concorde) so you just have to decide how important that is to you.

I remember jumping into Algoguille (sp) and seeing a message that I would not be tolerated. Federation Potatoships were then targeting me in my Drake. I was able to tank them but docked to try and figure out what the hell was going on (I was still new and did not know that you're supposed to decline the faction missions).

Bought the Diplomacy Skill, flew my ass to go pick it up, immediately trained it to II, and was good to go again. Afterwards, I did all of the newbie missions arcs in each region of Gallente Space and then steamrolled SOE missions. (ProTip: SOE Storyline missions increase Gallente Standing by 60% of the SOE standing gain AND only lower Caldari standing by 0.25% of the SOE Standing Gain making it possible to be on Good or maybe even Excellent standing with Caldari AND Gallente at the same time). Also my standing with the Sisters of Eve (corporation not faction) is 10.00. LOL.

So yes Jeff. It can be done!

It's bad if you go -5 or such I think? You will get attacked by the Navy in the respective region. Which can be a bad thing if you forget it and fly a freighter full of PLEXes.

This is one of the reasons I love this game.

I had a corpie fly out of lowsec to get his typhoon in the neighboring 0.5 system so he could bring it to the gate camp. He forgot that his Gallenti standing was screwed at the moment. I sat on gate while in comms ans the police slowly blew him to hell. I was laughing my ass off. I couldn't help him or I would have.

EVE is pretty awesome some times. Although I watched this same guy accidently shoot a Ronan police officer BS while dunk on accident once lol. Although nothing at all happened for some reason. I miss playing with that guy lol.

we had a little problem some weeks ago with some corp memebers who had very bad caldari standings , after 7 days corp standings gets update and corp will be kicked out of FW , we adapt and ran for 24h(you get a 24h warning dir/ceo) mindless lvl4 missions and helped the guys get their standings back and np there was.

dunno how it works in npc corp

Generally you dont have to worry about it.
As others have mentioned skills can correct it, and having friends willing to help you repair the standings if needed also comes in handy.

But most of the time there is nothing that "forces" you to enter another factions space.
If you absolutely have to go you will just have to avoid using AP, and avoid things like haulers, BS, freighters (general slow ships) and you can outrun the navy quite easily.

However, if you decide to join a WH corporation it might become a bit more difficult since you suddenly have to rely on random high sec exits for whenever you want to sell/buy stuff. Since these can appear anywhere there is always a chance that the exit will appear somewhere you are KOS, thus forcing you to either hope for a better exit or rely on someone else to move the stuff for you.

From being at -5 with some NPC factions i can tell you its a PITA when you get there, skills help a bit but in the end they do not compensate at all. If you can do the lvl1 Sisters Epic Arc missions every few months for those missions you are hurting for that helps a lot and avoid shooting stuff that belongs to empire factions unless you like pretending you are in faction warfare without the pvp and the LP.

You may have to be a little more aware of where you are flying from time to time in high sec, yes, but it's not that bad (not like CONCORD will jump out of the bushes with red in their eyes, and evading the navy is doable). As stated, with diplo trained up, it actually takes a bit to sink to and below -5 and even longer still to get to a point where it becomes frustratingly difficult to recover later on should you need to. If you really need it, that super-duper useful standings repair plan is floating around the forums somewhere can be a big help if standings get out of hand.

as you say, you just want to pew-pew. You don't lose faction standings for shooting players I think, only for shooting NPCs. So if you don't shoot NPCs you'll be fine.

-5.0 means they shoot you in their space, -2.0 means you can only access level 1 missions from that faction.

It will shred your standings with the opposing factions fairly quickly. If you want to fix it after, your stuck with rep grinding, which is horrid in this game.

To bad they have to add that big 'were going to screw you if you fw' to the game.

Better off using a throw away account for a month or 2.

If I recall if you are not -5.0 there should not be a problem.

But my memory is dim, I think there was once a time when you needed something like 2.0 or better with the faction and then in a patch from years ago that was changed.

So unless you are at -5.0, there should not be an issue. Good luck!

Love of Megathrons has given you +10 standings with The Troll Bridge.

It doesn't mean anything really, just that ill wave to you in local if I see you.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
