Follow, catch and kill industrial: which ship to use?

Just noticed: Badger makes 4.5AU warp speed Shocked Compare it to frigates - not many of them can fly faster What?

Tried to follow, catch and kill some ships. Using Slasher i could catch some of them but not one Badger. Fitted with Nanos they just so agile and fast so you have no time to lock and point it before it warps. Checked some other ships - outside of interceptors you have not much choice. But interceptor is so fragile so attacking even untanked ship is suicide - faction police will finish you long before you finish your prey.

People often compare non-combat ships of Eve Online with RL ships: big, slow and defenseless. However T1 industrial ships of Eve Online look more like gravity: it fast and almost uncatchable Lol

To clarify: he apparently wants to catch and kill war target (hostile FW faction) haulers in hostile space.

Solo it sounds like your kinda boned.

Couldn't you just use the tactic that most suicide gankers use?
A) Use a scout. (since you don't want it in FW, you could just adjust it's contacts so that a lot of FW pilots will end up being negative in his overview). Either the 'prey' are heading towards your 'gank' ship or they are not in which case you can reposition yourself to intercept or wait for new 'prey' to come into your route. Your scout could be in an interceptor, warping ahead of your targets would be useful.

B) Grab a couple of buddies (or not if you can get an arty ship with enough volley damage), warp to the gate slightly ahead of your prey - when he comes through target him and pop him. You could even use another nuetral to remote sensor boost you (put his safety on green).

C) Step three profit?

Take a tripple MASB Hawk, it can tank the navies and has nice warp speed.

this fit just gets blapped by NPC on 40th second after warp-in (when Navy Admirals come close). It is just one-shot in few seconds. Resistances: 65%, 76% for Term/Kin.

Cannot check Hawk (no skills) but i think it will blow too.

To those who advises group activity - i'm just curious if it can be done to do it solo. Actually i had some success in such attacks in my slasher but it's very chance based.

And yes, i think it is really funny that industrial ships can warp faster than frigates. Remember size progression from frigates (fast warp) to battleships(slow warp)?

It depends on system sec status ofc.
0.5 and 0.6 should be doable.

Okay I will treat this seriously for a second. You know the badger has an agility bonus right? Nano fit and rigged it is supposed to align and enter warp quickly. Fit a sebo if you really want to catch them.

What's the problem with an instalock gank Nado, might I ask?

Just lessen the gank enough to fit a 1600 and you should be able to tank navies and gate guns (assuming you're in FW and in their space).

I killed a shitload of wartarget industrials using pilgrim and stealth bomber. Even killed one without having point on my purifier but I was bumping him to hell and back Lol
With pilgrim that was dual point fitted I killed two industrials at the same time.

It is very important that you have cloak as usually more valuable industrials use scout but still jump in if the gate is "clear" although there is red in local (you).

This was my pilgrim setup for prolonged hunting:

Uncloaking delay of pilgrim I've compensated by uncloaking the moment he jumped through gate to me.
I did loose soem targets because of that delay but it was ok as that pilgrim was used for normal PvP and I wasn't close to reship. Usually i had 2x tr. destr in hold and swaped web and short point in closes station and went to support corpm8s.

Damn, just noticed you want to do it in space covered by enemy faction police, no cloaks there Roll
I would go for Stiletto or Ares with point range bonus and shitload of dps so you can kill indy in less then 30sec b4 navy starts shooting you.
Most industrials are cargo expander fitted so have quite low EHP.

Do not follow

Try to find where he is going and where he will go back
Catch him when he is going back, wait in a system near the next gate he will use (bms are your friends) and try to jump before him at gate then wait cloaked

Uncloak after him, activate your sensors boosters and points

Only attack the industrial in 0.5 or 0.6 security systems. Faction navywill be on you too fast, too furious otherwise.
