Ok, I was bored the other day so I made the mistake to purchase myself a SA forum access account to those so-called self-proclaimed goons.

(Will be criticizing a bit SA and Reddit and then trying to understand the Eve Online Forums with your help)

SA:
What I noticed is the following in there.

1. Once you buy the access and like most, your profile picture and some superior forum access, then you are automatically considered a goon.

2. Besides the fact that there are all those hardcore forum rules that ban you, a major one being low content post, about 99% of the people in there are precisely doing just that (especially in the gaming forum)...so I guess Lowtax is the biggest troll of all, that people actually pay money for him and he is not doing what he said he would be doing in his forum rules. Paying for false advertisement....amazing forum. If I pay to become banned for a low content post, then I want to be banned if I post a low content post. Is that so hard to grasp???

3. Goons are bashing so many other games, how game devs only care about $$$ and whatnot, yet, they are paying themselves to even use a forum, so Lowtax is the same but wait, I guess it is ok then if forum owners only care about $$$ but with game devs it is not ok, because you get so much more out of a forum than out of a game. (like trolls maybe ? paying to be trolled 24/7... gtfo, seriously...

4. People post pictures of themselves posing and showing off their muscles and lowtax cashes in millions of $$$ for people to do that. I think I will stop here...

Reddit:

1. o\

2. I think if I would have looked for another minute I might have shot myself of how dumb people can be. I mean, I see everything from bank account numbers to how many thousands of dollars they spent in buying pixel space ships in a game known as Star Citizens, ships worth over 1000 usd, and then they re-sell it there (but a quick stop at the Star Citizens website shows that it is forbidden to sell a pixel space ship that is worth more than 1000 usd), yet, people in Reddit fight themselves over it by the dozens.... I mean... just forget it.

3. Probably the most low content crap (even lower than my post here), I have ever seen in any place.

4. Can't think anymore, such a ridiculous place, I mean, guys, come on...

Eve Online Forum:

I am trying to find out the relationship between those two forums and the Eve Online Forum, and this is where you, yes, YOU come into play.

Something Awful actually started out with 2 guys who happened to be body builders & members of Westboro Bapist Church. They were kicked out for being fags, so they started a paid access forum where we could post pictures of our muscles for their profit. It really took off & made a lot of money, then the co-founder disappeared under mysterious circumstances after a drunken binge at Lowtax's apartment.

Reddit started out as a safe haven for people who like to look at questionable pictures of young children & rapidly become wildly popular.

Personally I find the Book area of SA forums fairly entertaining.

Somethingawful is a popular gay hookup site. I don't know where you're looking OP but it seems pretty off.

EVE-O and SA both require payment to post thus contributing to the GDP of their respective basket case economies.

i am in awe of your masterful infiltration of these secretive and mysterious online communities

with a man on the inside we will be able to gain the redditors' trust and steal their secrets

Any Goon willing to tell the sad story of Andrew Allred (also known as Bomber116) and his ban from the SA forums?

Every forums has trolls and spam, but the EVE forums tends to be moderated pretty heavily thus you see "less" off it here, well at least it dosent get out of hand, to often.

But what you also have to remember with the EVE forums (and im sure the same goes for the ones you looked at) the attitude changes a bit depending on what section of the forums you look at.

Examples.
GD - A lot of trolls, can be very amusing to read, but can also leave you wondering what kind of people actually play this game.
NCQA - Generally helpful and less trolls, but people there can sometimes come across as a bit....hmm.. snotty? Looking down on people (oddly enough its mostly the other vets they look down on, not the new players). Like there is some competition you dont know about.
OOPE - Everything not EVE, some trolls but its more "good natured" and most of the frequent posters know each other and joke back and forth. One of the slower forum sections (lack of new threads) but generally pleasant and nice for more..serious discussions.
C&P - Not spent much time there but.. Everyone hates someone, but everyone is willing to team up if someone new comes along and posts accusations towards another player without the proof to back it up Lol
Fun section, interesting people, and wouldent get into a forum war with the regular posters Smile

Whenever you join a new forum it takes time to find "your place" and learn what forum sections to just avoid.
And of course, with forums such as the one you pay for its also possible you simply dont have access to the "real good" forum sections and your simply looking at the "bad" sections where there is no real moderation.

English must be a second language for you, I prefer to spell it secound as well, however in America we have new rules, rules that people who have read books made up, besides that; the point I am trying to make is that I like to ****, and I don't give no fucks. Yours truly.

Thread has been moved to Out of Pod Experience as it really doesn't have much to do with Eve itself.

*** FLLLEEEEEEEXXXX*** Now I had no idea that's how the SA forums started. If that story is true its so far from how I had imagined.

The relation to SA and reddit is the face that you have to also pay to use the eve forums. Its a monthly subscription which coincides with the game...

Ever tried ship toasting on a inactive character... you cant Cool

On another topic, think the SA forums would be a good place to enquire about body building?

You shouldn't follow advice you read on the internet. People just make that **** up.
