Please move this message, I couldn't figure out where to post it.

Since the Rubicon expansion I have lost several ships being locked and pointed on gate due to inability to cloak. One of those a prowler being flown by a hauling character. I did not seem to have this problem before the Rubicon expansion. I'm just curious if anyone else has been having this problem. Also low signature radius ships such as frigates being locked by an interdictor before warping off from a gate, I have noticed this several times.

It should be noted that my internet connection is garbage for the next few weeks before I move. I have not changed anything I have been doing, it seems that if you hit align or warp then immediately hit cloak the commands should be arriving at the server at the correct interval. I never had this problem before Rubicon.

Eve works in 1 second ticks, if you have a ****** internet connection (and it appears you indeed have), you activate the buttons quickly, but they get to the server too late (activate 1 second later) and it is all a scanres maxed ship needs to lock you.

The other thing that may be occurring is you are actually dropping gate cloak too fast and encountering the recloaking delay timer.

Actually, this happened to me reasonably often (may be 1 in 10 times or so) before Incursion.

Since the last two expansions, it hasnt happened at all.

Try lowering any settings that are having a drain on your video RAM, I find this helps the video-lag problem.

That makes sense. It is as I feared. When I moved in to this place I had told the landlord that I needed good internet to Skype for my aviation degree I am working on. Apparently his idea of good internet is using the neighbors "guest" connection. Between this and many other mis-communications I think this guy is candidate for an upper decker in every bathroom in the house when I move out in a few weeks.

Also Wyoming seems to have way better internet than most places around the country, I guess sheep don't use much bandwith. I'm coming baaaaack.

Eve doesn't need high-speed internet, neither doest it suck a lot of data (apart from updates and expansions), but a stable connection is a prereq for a good gaming experience.

Check your FPS when the jump is complete. I once warped into a fleet. As they were jumping in and my frame rate nearly hit zero, I was in my pod before they loaded .

I adjusted my setting s and it never happened again

This might not be a bug, this might be user error...

Keep in mind that you cannot cloak if you're locked or within 2.5 KM of anything! It is extremely easy for a Insta lock interceptor to lock anything. (If interceptor is fitted properly and has a good pilot, it takes less then a second to lock a POD.)

Even if you do get to cloak and press warp, its also easy (easier now with camera tracking) to just burn towards the general area where the target cloaked to and uncloak them.

Be aware of your surroundings when you jump into low or null sec.

Another thing to consider is that people are flying more super sebo'ed ships trying to catch the rash of interceptors that are around, and we do find that we catch more cloaky ships since we started doing that.

If only eve actually worked that way. But nope, one has to internalize a timer in order to navigate successfully. That timer includes the hop from your connection to CCP's servers, so is different for everyone, and changes depending on your internet connection.

Not really complaining, I internalized the cloak timing a long time ago, so now it mainly affects me by laughing at people who 'should never have been caught'. Just saying though, kinda freakin' silly that I have to press align, pause a quarter second, then shift-f1->f1->f2 (but don't press them too fast or the cloak command won't register) to get past a camp. Sure, it's do-able, but should I pause ever so slightly less (or more) than that quarter second, or should there be the slightest internet hiccup in that moment, I am ******.

Hardly news though, it's been this way since I started playing, at least.

For the last few expansions there has been a bug where the cloak timer is sometimes reset wrongly, so after jumping a gate waiting a few seconds, dropping gatecloak and then engaging your own cloak you get the "have to wait 15seconds blabla" which is the standard time for a bomber (I reported it 2 times in the bugtracker).

That combined with the subsecond timing of the press, while the green confirmation that it took can be 1s+, and the "you cant cloak yet" message hangs for serveral seconds, makes a few times where you can luck out.

Didn't I read somewhere recently that you can hit cloak first and then warp or mwd? Or is that some other tactic?

something like that, i'm not going to say how because i've seen enough vindicators warp off using it

btw im referring to cloaky warp trick, not some new exploit im trying to hide

There is still input lag, i have noticed this often. I am having to hit Fkeys multiple times for them to recognized in-game. It was only occasionally prior to the Odyssey since then it's constant, if i am doing something risky i click because it activates on the first click vs the possible/probable 2-3 button mashings on any keyboard i own. This thread is absolute bull****.

According to 5000 threads in F&I, ships with cloaks are completely invulnerable.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
