OP, you just dont understand EVE.

-people makes billions via trade or industry. Try Jita or Amarr
-people makes tens of billions by PVP, like ganking freighters in 0.5 systems
- there are tons of passive and semi passive inome activities in EVE without touching your mining or mission ship.
