Ive been wanting to play this game for quite some time but i tried if a few years back and found it to be overwhelming, so im trying to take another go at it but this time i really want someone to guide me through everything and get me on the fast track to success. Games like these usually take me forever to figure out because it mostly trial and error, wasting lots of time trying to figure things out, so by having a master/sensei helping me i can skip a lot of the time consuming trial and error, and they can help me figure out what class and skills i should start out with and what not. In return for someones extensive help ill be able to team up with that person or/and corporation. The type of person i need to help me must be COOL and PATIENT. Additionally having Ventrillo or Skype so we can talk is a huge plus, so we can communicate faster. I'm a pretty mellow dude and fun to play with. please someone take me under there wing so i can quickly become an asset in eve online. thank you

Well. I have couple of options for you.

1. EVE Tutors. Community channel with lots of helpful people you can "annoy" with all your questions. They do have a Teamspeak3 server too for helping new players.

Channel: EVE Tutors.

2. My own channel. I don't mind helping new players whenever I have the time (which is usually always when I'm logged in). Keep in mind, less populated and I can't vouch for activity being high outside my own timezone (EU time).

See my bio for name (or when in game, for a link to channel).

Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded

Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

In addition to J'poll, there are quite a few streamers that help out as well. I myself help people get into the game. There are quite a few others to help PvE, PvP, or just general information.

Sirsqueebles - PvP and takes out public fleets
Daopa - PvE and general game play
Rushlock - PvE and general game play
Carkagershen - PvP

I'm sure I'm missing quite a few. My stream is link below.

Twitch streamer and EVE NT tournament broadcaster.

Ah, a new minion to collect my trail of broken drones mission after mission Big smile
j/k you would find it boring and quit in two days.
Better than just being one persons cargo-hold-slave-trade-commodity (those are neat but not as good as exotic dancers), maybe you might be interested in eve university? Anyway, from what you mentioned, they came to mind. I've never been directly connected to them myself, but they have a good rep.

I'll probably use some of the methods listed for some assistance, but im really looking for just one person that can guide me because they can come up with a gameplan for my chars to get me into the game quickly and keep track of my progress and goals, without the multitude of differing opinions.

Yeah they do that: Mentors

eve university looks pretty cool and the mentor program looks like it would work well for me, problem is you have to apply and they said it could take up to weeks , so ill enter an application and see if i get lucky and get in soon. in the meantime i would still like a pro to walk me through everything, i know its kinda ridiculous but i really dont wanna wander around aimlessly messing my char up and not really accomplishing anything trying to figure out what im doing. I realize im asking alot of someone, i hoping theres someone out there like me that just likes hanging out with new players and training them.

If you are interested in PvP another way to get a mentor is to throw together a frigate and go to low-sec. Go from belt to belt and engage the first person you see.

You'll lose of course... but if you open a conversation with your killer and ask what you did wrong (you always will do something wrong) you will almost always get an good response. If you don't, it is no big deal. Just try again with someone else.

If you frequent the same areas and challenge the same people over and over again then sooner or later someone will pick you up and bring you into their group. When that happens watch and listen to what everyone else does. They will teach you things and you will grow.

The only issue with this method is that it is "trial and error" and a little bit expensive for newbies. You will feel a little bad for dying so much... but if you see it as a "means to an end" then it isn't so bad. Just remember to fully insure every ship you fly.

No offense.

But other then EVE Uni you will have a hard time finding one.

Why...because the teaching you prevents them from doing what they want. And I dont mean this in a snarky or disrespectful way but they cant do what they do because you are not ready for it and the things you do can become very boring for them.

So mentorship usually just end with a chat where you can spam questions. But other then that its all for their own game time

Not to forget. This is a Sandbox. Each and every single person plays differently in the sandbox and thus it will be near impossible to find the mentor that does like exactly the same things in EVE as you do.

Yeah, like speaking for myself, I run lvl4 security combat missions in high sec until I burn out. Then I jump into a cov-ops cloaked explorer and go to more dangerous places until I burn out. Then I have an alt trained for faction wars, until I burn out. Then the cycle starts over every month or two while I work to finish off yet another training plan. I don't do everything, don't know everything, play rather rogue skilled and at odd times as I can. Fly frigs to T3 cruisers to BS's, from missile boats to black-ops to various haulers. Doesn't even scratch the surface of what this game offers.

The game is so big at this point, it would probably be easiest to learn by just finding something you think fits your play style, then doing it. When you get there, you will find other players doing the same thing as you. Those are the ones that will help you out the most. imo eve university is a good place to start, but years down the line you will probably still not be close to having done all things doable in this game.

I would try and get in to Eve Uni and use the channel(s) contacts listed above.

Part of the problem is that Eve is such a big game that you are pushing your luck to claim to be an expert in more than one or a few areas as there are always new things going on and small changes to gameplay. This is why the Uni is useful : they have many experienced people. Apart from the fact that they are focused on teaching newcomers and have a large set of resources.

IMO you stand a better chance of getting something more personal if you try and narrow down what you are interested in - which may be difficult when you just want to try a bit of everything to see what you like.

Another vote for EVE uni. It might take some time to get in, but its worth it.

It would also be worth mentioning that there is no "fast track to success" in EVE. What makes a player successful depends on your personal goals and achievements, not what someone else considers success.
A mentor can tell you everything you want, but you still have to actually learn to do it, and while a certain level of "hand holding" is good, it will also disable you in the long run since you wont know how to operate/think on your own and come up with your own goals.

So, ask for help, but dont become dependent on your mentor(s). Do research on your own as well, find the things you want to try (not what someone tells you to try), and find people who has experience in those areas and take what they say as suggestions, not as "rules".

Sensei? Are you Dwight from "The Office, US?" You can be my Sempai (Assistant to the Sensai).

All joking aside, it can be tough to find the right corp. Very large corps suffer from not being very personable. Small corps can be a problem in that your mentor may go on vacation, or suffer from timezone problems. It kinda depends on the level of attention you need and the amount of experience you're looking to gain.

There are plenty of good midsized corps recruiting in all areas of space.
If you're looking to just go ahead and join a known entity -
Eve-Uni is alright.
Brave Newbies.

Your call. I think your better off starting a convo with a few group 'recruiters, or diplomats' and figuring out if you a) enjoy the conversation b) what the corp does is a good fit.

To add to this.

If you go out and look for a corporation, read this guide:

It will help a lot with the search.

The corporation the character is now a member off is reserved for "dead" characters. You can also show info on him and you will see that it says the character cant be found (at least on EVE gate).
