What's Changed with Minmatar Ships in the Last Year?

My Main is coming back to eve today, after a 1.25 year hiatus. Since He flew mostly minmatar he was wondering what changes have been made to Minmatar ship fitting and play strategy. Mostly flew Battleships for Missioning and ratting as well as Assault Cruisers and Stealth bombers for PVP. Any review help would be appreciated in order to shorten the learning curve.

Tracking enhancers got rebalanced losing a large portion of falloff bonus, projectiles in general but AC in particular really lost a lot of projected dps because of that. Apart from that ships are all being rebalanced and what generally happened is "everything gets buffed but we'll leave Minnie as is because they're awesome".

Result is that now "everyone" has fast ships and "everyone" is good at kiting while having less problems due to not relying on falloff so much. So actually Minnie isn't really amazing right now, not saying they're outright bad (because that would be dumb) but it most certainly wouldn't be my first choice, or even second.

simply put; suddenly there's tons of other ships just as fast with better damage projection.

TEs lost some of their falloff bonus, which hurts AC boats a bit.

Mission mael will lose a bit of AC range (making your angel **** machine a little less effective), arty range is still more than enough.

Alphamaels die to domis, slowcats, dreads, etc.

Vagabonds got a shield boost bonus allowing them to run a viable active tank in PVP with ASBs.

Munins are basically unchanged.

Tempests and Phoons both got a rather nice buff to their EHP and capacitor. Phoon is now a proper missile boat.

Cane got nerfed to hell, only the instacane is viable anymore in PvP (and there are plenty of other anti-bomber fits out there for other hulls now).

Cyclone is now a missile boat, its shield boost bonus works wonderfully with ASBs.

Scythes are now viable logi.

SFI is as good as ever. Scythe Fleet Issue is even better still (and insanely fast).

The dominant BS in the game is currently the Domi, in both PvP and PvE. Drone boats were buffed massively, a 4x DDAII domi does 800dps with Garde IIs alone. Drone assist PvP domis can snipe out to 200km with perfect alpha.

Naglfar is tied with the Moros as the dreads of choice.

Nidhoggur and Hel are still useless.

Talwars are amazingly fun for cheap PvP in both small gangs and large fleets.

Stiletto is currently the one of best all around inty, and inties are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING now.

Cane didn't get nerfed to hell, it lost a second utility high slot and lost fitting to compensate for the extra neut you can't fit any more. It performs exactly the same now as it did before, minus the 2nd neut.

The cycle evolved. In 2005 Caldari were the falvor.. then came amarr.... then minmatar.. now the overpowered race is gallente (and anyone with half a brain saw that start 2 years ago).

Fly gallente.. and train caldari (because theya re the next on the line)

Nope, the reduction in power grid made impossible to fit any really competitive way.

A simple brutix with rails is a better arti cane than the arti cane and wthat whiel wastign a whole bonus whiel cane need 2 bonus to not even reach same DPS.

THere is a reason why the single ship we banish from any of our members to fly is the hurricane.

It still fits 425m in shield fit just fine, and arties still work ok. what happened is that medium rails got buffed so they're now pretty good and TE got nerfed which affects arties more than rails.

it still fits a configuration that is horrible . Rail brutix do more dps at realistic ranges ( 10 km onwards) than AC hurricane.

If you need a dps **** with neuts,m the cycloen is plain superior

The cane got changed but effectively all that happened is that it lost a 2nd neut and the fitting to do so, nothing that affects your projected dps has been changed other than TE changes a while ago. The reason Brutix is now more awesome is because of the Brutix and medium rail changes, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A CANE "NERF", INSTEAD IT'S A BRUTIX/RAIL BUFF!

Both the Claw and Stiletto are good boats though a stated above there has been a tendency to buff the other races and leave Minnie ships as is becasue they are "already Ok".

From a meta-gaming point of view "balancing" everything so choices are only cosmetic and all races are more or less teh same seems counter productive but I suppose it cuts back on forum whiners.

The most popular minnie ship at present is probably the 'nado, entire gangs get Concorded daily in hisec :D
