I'm not saying that the OP is this...but was curious one day and started keeping track of 'whiney' OP's and recording the names of the mockish posters that followed within 10-20 posts. I did this for a couple weeks

Very enlightening as certain posters seemed to have a tendency to follow quickly. So either they are on the forums huge amounts of time to swoop in on these OPs quickly to mock them (which is pretty pathetic when you think about it)...or a more cynical person might think maybe the OP isn't real and a sockpuppet...hmmmmm NAWWWW can't be that.

What do you think about the above, Alavaria Fera? ;)

I think you're confusing online bullying of the type that makes people jump off bridges with the "bullying" in EVE. In the first kind your real life reputation or livelihood is at stake. In EVE, your pixel ship with your fake reputation is on the line. Not quite the same stakes you see.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

Just as in real life, in EVE the law is made by those who have the most and biggest guns with which to enforce it. This is a really compelling element of realism in the game. If you don't like the law, and feel that something should be done about it, feel free to inspire enough people with guns to join you in challenging it. Until then, the Code is the law in highsec, and you can either accept that and buy a permit, or decline to buy a permit and accept the consequences.

Sorry to see it has devolved into this. There is so much to do on a positive/cooperative venture.
Not a direction I wanted to see it go – turned into a scam run by a bunch of players who have no real experience with the game other than their short sited evil and gratification of their desire to feel somehow powerful. Because they are a bunch of 97 lb weaklings in RL. With no real strength of character other than that they can impose in a totally anonymous Internet game.

It is easy to be evil and destructive in this game. What the real challenge is – to work with others toward a common goal – put yourself into it, grow some balls and work for your survival. You may actually enjoy your gains.

GIBBS – Smack to the back of the head – it is a wake up call :)


When I was playing 10 years ago there were massive Space Invader gate camps in Yulai, and no Concord. Can't say I don't agree with you though.

No, because people somehow find it amusing to be tyrannical dickheads and take pride in humiliating others.

In the OP's case, they cried about it and now they are now more of a target than ever.

I don't know what he means by "the real challenge" being to work with others to build something.

Its really easy to build things in Eve if nobody is trying to tear it down. Eve PvE is very easy.

I will point out that James 315 did try to deal with this through nicer means. He wrote a series of articles on how the effort and risk v reward in high sec mining is really out of whack. Without gankers or bumpers, its an extremely safe, unengaging low effort activity that gives easy isk. At the same time, its a central part of the Eve economy, so it can't just be ignored.

CCP hasn't done anything about it, so as players we are doing the only thing we can do about the problem. Set up our own rules and enforce them through bumping and ganking.
