Tech 3 Freighter

Another silly idea, maybe already suggested, i didn't search.Lol

Tech 3 Freighter

- Capital Subsystems based hauler
- Common hull
- One Main deck subsystem
- Four Hauling subsystems
- One Propulsion subsystem

Hauling subsystem types:
- Ore (1,000,000 m3 capacity)
- Components/Materials (250,000 m3 capacity)
- Ships (900,000 m3 capacity)
- Ship Equipment (250,000 m3 capacity)

You can use any of those, several if you like, i.e. 4 Ore subsystems to obtain a 4,000,000 m3 bulker.

If the ship is destroyed, the hauling subsystems float in space and can be attached to another hull in space, but cannot be removed in space, you must be docked in a station.

Propulsion subsystem types:
- Regular warp drive
- Jump drive

Regular warp drive is the same as Freighters, and ship is able to go everywhere, including highsec and wormholes if maximum mass jump allows it.
Jump drive is the same as Jump Freighters.

You can't fit both, this meaning that the Jump drive cannot warp/subwarp (i.e. can't move), and have to be towed by a Rorqual with Capital Tractor Beam.

Main Deck subsystem types:

May contain a number of high/medium/low power slots, and have different kinds of bonuses (speed, agility, eWar, etc...)

Does this add anything that the game needs? Not really.

So... wormhole dwellers should spend all that time to kill Sleepers, harvest gas, ores etc. in order to build a ship that has no use in the wormhole and can't leave it?

I suppose we could haul Sleeper guts to empire and wait in queues to manufacture there, or we can manufacture tengus and bring those out for immediate sale...

This offers no value to the game I'm afraid.

It can leave it if you use regular warp drive, but then it can't jump.

i think you should rethink your warp/jumpdrive idea.

rather enable a faster warp for normal freighters, and a slower warp for jump capable ships, in addition to perhaps drawbacks on some of the other components like say m3.

So if say the ship could only warp, then it would have more m3 than a t1 freighter.

But if it could jump, then it would have slightly more m3 than a jf or something along those lines.

A t3 Industrial might be interesting. Cov Ops Jump portal ability. Able to do a specific ore hold and what not.

T1 Indy can hold up to 38-42km3 (Ity V, reasonable fitting) of general loot. Have your sub systems set up so that it can either hold 1 fitted battle ship, a boat load of ore / unprocessed mats (200k), or hauler space (up to 30 km or so). Balance would be had, its gotta be more versatile than than t1-t2 hulls without over shadowing them.

With jump drive you can leave highsec with a cyno in low but not come back, unless you refit a warp drivein lowsec station.

I tried to add a disadvantage, maybe it's too much.

If CCP thought like that with the t3s we have today, there would have been much rage.

Imagine a legion with no turrets if it had warp, having to refit each time you wanted pew pew.

You'd be skinned alive.

Not really the same. You can fit a Legion with salvagers and have no weapons at all Blink

What's the mass of this freighter expected to be?

Eh, maybe not a Tech 3 freighter, but I'd like to see freighters get "hangars" like the Orca bays. Would make organizing a lot of stuff a lot easier.

Recommendations:

-enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters)

-add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot)

-STOP NERFING EVERYTHING!

Still trying to find the way for the engines without rendering Freighters and Jump Freighters useless...

I do realize that now warp at all is a strong disadvantage, but it can haul up to 4,000,000 m3 of compressed ore, this is heavy Smile

Anyway you can install a warp drive but you won't be able to jump. You have the choice.

Like it is is can haul 1,000,000 m3 of stuff, but divided in 4 cargoholds so Freighter is still usefull cause it's the only ship able to deploy capital structures like iHub or others.

As you mentioned, you didn't search.

If you would have, you would have noted the fact that a similar idea was suggested here.

Anyway... ...continue discussion.
