Hello. I am planning to join the FW with my main also I am considering to use my industrial to mine/manufacture casually near the contested area to have easy access to T1 ships.
I know I could join a good corp but at the moment I dont have much time to dedicate to eve.
My big worry. Both my main and my alt share the same name. When I created the alt it was mostly a science ME developer and my main was in null sec so the name was not a real problem.

Should I worry about being extra ganked because a family member with similar name is in war just two systems away?

Unless you intend to scout with your alts, or use them as spies I would say no. Otherwise just keep smack talk to a minimum and you have little to no reason to worry.

Lets guess... Afrodita A is your Alt or main.

You guessed wrong, I revamped this char just to ask this question. Google Afrodita A to know who she is.

There's a lot you can do to minimize the risk of getting ganked on your alt.
- Don't AFK mine or AFK-anything
- Don't fly mission boats that would be profitable to gank
- Don't **** post in local
- If you're in a gank rich area, I would suggest buying a mining permit
- On the latter point, set up base for your alt in a more quiet system perhaps

As a miner, your alt is at the bottom of the food chain and getting ganked is just a matter of WHEN, not IF. Fit for tank, and insure your mining barge.

TL;DR
Doesn't matter what your alt is named, just keep a low profile, use your brain and you will be fine.

I wouldn't worry. Eve combat mechanics will prevent people from taking it out on your indy toon without consequences. On the other hand, if you PvP you'll eventually know how to fight or at least how to use dscan, etc, to avoid trouble entirely. Only problem I can see is perpetual wardecs, but that's quickly fixed (move to null/low).

I don't think it will be a big deal now, but as time progresses it _could_ become a problem. If you become a major pvp player (who will acquire enemies) or even Eve famous (lol?) then people might make it a point to hurt you in any way possible. If you don't have a lot of time invested in the indy alt, I say just make a new one on the same account and go with it from there. If you do have a lot of time invested....suffer the potential consequences or sell it on forums and buy a new one? Your call.
