EVE Online: Crucible - Now on Singularity

We are now less than a week away from the scheduled release of the first part of Crucible, the winter 2011 expansion for EVE Online. In this last phase of development we focus on the finishing touches we deem necessary for a smooth and successful release. Public testing on Singularity plays a large role in this process; if you see anything that you would consider harmful to the launch of Crucible next week please take the time to post here. I will do my best to keep a running tally of the biggest issues reported here:

Windows cannot be moved around
User pain: High
Workaround: None
Status: Under investigation, if you are experiencing this please file a report via the in game bug reporting tool (F12).

Missile skills have missing message ID's
User pain: High
Workaround: None
Status: Fixed in in Nov 27 update (#321215)

FPS drops heavily with many player owned customs office re-inforcement timers active in a system
User pain: High
Workaround: Be in a system that does not have re-inforced customs offices
Status: Fixed in in Nov 23 update (#319708)

Chat displays names twice and all messages as hyperlinks to nowhere
User pain: Moderate
Workaround: Toggle timestamp on makes it a little better for chat, same error still affects other places like the system info (top left corner)
Status: Fixed in Nov 26 update (#320935)

Probe manipulation UI and solar system map are not behaving as expected
User pain: Moderate
Workaround: It's just a little bit fiddly, the zoom level is odd and the picking needs to be tweaked
Status: Fixed in in Nov 24 update (#320443)

Some texts are missing from the UI
User pain: Low
Workaround: None
Status: Fixed in in Nov 23 update (#320042)

Planet view and map from within CQ with AA enabled doesn't work
User pain: Low
Workaround: Disable anti aliasing
Status: Fixed in in Nov 23 update (#320042)

Bulk data downloaded
User pain: Low
Workaround: None
Status: Fixed in in Nov 24 update (#320443)

The builds will from now on be what we call release candidates (RC), this means they are built from a code branch only used for releases to Tranquility (TQ) and that has some side effects such as the client wanting to connect to TQ if you launch it without any startup parameters or via the Sisi launcher. I strongly recommend you read the Singularity wiki page if this is your first visit. We will likely continue updating Sisi with a new RC each day for the next few days so check back here frequently if you want to keep up to date on the current list of issues.


Please use this thread for general feedback or to report severe issues, please take the time to also bug report as per the instructions here. There are more detailed feedback threads for the newest features in the Test Server Feedback section of the forums, please use those threads where appropriate.

Sisi is up with Build 319542. Sisi Launcher working. Manual Patch not up yet.

OK First and First Bug. If I start the Client in the Ship Hanger rather than the Captains Quarters, then press on any interface button on the left panel the interface disappears. Starting in the Captains Quarters then going to ship hanger works OK.

All Market -> Skills -> Missile skills are "no_message_ID =".

The map is not working in the Captains Quarters The map is blurry and moving the map looks like you painting a scene, using the map in Ship hanger and in space is OK.

That is another side effect of RC builds; they don't get patches from the staging builds. The way to update to the current Sisi client is to use the Sisi launcher, a generic patch (see bottom paragraph of patches page) or manual patch from the current TQ build.

i hope the 2 spawns in first wave in forsaken hubs has been fixed coz i used to be able to do them in a t1 fitted bs close range fitted if im forced to use long range guns and a faction ship or carrier to run them im gonna be pissed and i wont be the only one

forcing a large change to a play style (which involves making isk in 0.0 to requireing lots of isk to start making isk) is really bad

*edit* and yep the first 2 waves of npcs still come in first spawn
which means i have to change my autocannon mach for a tach nightmare to be able to do them due to the dps overload in the first wave thanks for nuking the only viable way (without getting killed by hostiles due to having to use a carrier) of making isk in 0.0 which means more people using incursions in highsec ie going backwards ingame wise

oh btw its not like i could do the damn anoms in 0.0 in the first place coz of hostiles leaving blackops cyno alts in every ratting system in eve so no one can make isk in 0.0 find a way to fix that and everyone in eve will love you for it

btw another thing that is cheesing me off royaly is these plex promos sending plex prices through the roof meaning i CANT sub my accounts due to insane prices when i cant make isk in the first place

another gripe atm is the station services showing the holding corps logo taking up space so if u have items and ships merged with the station window u have just lost ALOT of view space can we please have an option to hide the logo and gain our space back?

wow test server client *quit button* doesnt take 20 seconds to close the game its now instant woot....

I think what you are missing is, if all the anomalies get hard and thus worth more you will make similar isk with similar difficulty on a lower level site as you did on an upper one. Old isk/difficulty high end = new isk/difficulty upper mid-range. Basically its giving you room to grow. You shouldn't just be handed more isk but you still have the opportunities to make the same with your current set up in a lower anom.

EvE as life is about risk and reward, you have the opportunity to farm high paying anoms because of the risk of loss, thats why they do and should pay more than high-sec activities like mission running. If you want safety fly in high sec, but accept a income penalty.

Plex promos add more supply to the market, which should have the effect of driving prices down or at least slowing the rise, which is most likely why CCP is doing a bunch lately.

Clicking "my wallet -> transactions -> load" still hangs the wallet, but reply to the bug report I filed earlier mentioned it being fixed internally... Recheck please.

Minor graphical glitch:

Some ship models (saw this on the Naga, Tornado and Scorpion) show some of the lights through the ship model when viewed in the item preview pane, but only when flying in space. This didn't happen in station.

Removal of pin windows locking it in place is mad. It will make the UI a lot more difficult to deal with, as it's very easy to drag something in a stressed situation, leading to not finding the proper buttons in the proper places, and dying for it.

Please return this feature soonest.

90% UI still has black edges when the hanger view is turned off.
Corp BM creation at right click is still not active.

Just for your info, I am running 319708 and the above is not yet fixed for me (unless you have not released the update yet).

Both the Planet View and Map fail to load if AA is enabled.

The log with that bug report is massively long and has a ton of exceptions linked to other issues that have in fact been fixed, I had to dig for a while before I found the one that actually looked relevant to your issue. Have notified the relevant team, but can't promise a fix will make it into the first release since it may take a while to find the root cause.

Just to confirm this also happens to me, I thought it was because we were on SiSi so did not bother to report it.

Also I have asked many times in the past but never got an answer or a fix (if it needs it), but why is the 'Balance' column the only one that is left justified and not right like all the other money columns?

Scanning is broken. Pinpointing cosmic signatures using Core Scanner Probes, both regular and Sisters variety is impossible.

No point queerying the update now, all CCP are doing now is trying to limit theundocumented features people will find on patch day. the content is finalised. It might be a bit crap in some cases but it is what it is.
