Very effective yes and also very expensive (320 flights of sentries ain't cheap). Used to work back in the day... Smarty fit BS warp in to carrier blob at zero and kill the fighters. I guess it's easier to type a few words in complaint than come up with a counter though...

Also you can't defend drone assist without looking and sounding like a *****. Both sides are using it, it's hideously boring, and laughably broken.

Yes it is funny that with so many ship types and so many module variants that the best counter you can come up with is the same strategy. I don't see why a Discocarrier blob with bomber support can't counter this. Until someone can post proof that this doesn't work, I don't see a reason for a nerf.

If a nerf happens, so what? The same tactic works... with the FC calling primary and everyone focus firing their drones.

Carriers refit for smartbombs, combined smartbombs kill the BS fleet.

While I'm certain some of these uber nullsec sperglords of elite PVP will laugh at this, during the highsec Sansha incursions they fit the Revenants with SBs (and a really bad tank lest it take all day to kill it) and it comprised a black hole into which all drones sent never returned.

Lots of "where's my drones?" and "CCP no like Gallente" being said that day let me tell you.

Shame on me for not reading the whole thread, but are people really defending it? I thought the point of the whole thread was to espouse a conspiracy theory about the timing of game changes to benefit a chosen few?

Lets assume the people that are in the droneships/carriers are indeed afk, then it would be easy to kill those sentry's with a couple of stealthbombers or smartbombs.

It does not fix anything, there is no reason to remove drone assist either.
Saying that "players can just go afk" is complete bullshit, if they are indeed afk .. well check above.

Drone assist is also a counter against ecm from caldari cruisers, you remove drone assist you make a already overpowered mechanic even more powerfull.
So that is one downside from removing drone assist.

I have not read a single part in that "blog" that says something about a "enormous upside" from removing it, apart ofc that now people will change ships and turn into f1 bashing players.
Which they do anyway in a different doctrine, not really something you can call an enormous upside.

So all in all the post looks like someone who does not like the setup used or can not play against it and uses a rant to try to proof a point.

It's simply policy that "balance" is to be judged in terms of tournament play and alliance nullsec wars.

In cases of PvE usabilty versus "tournament balance" its always been the later that takes priority.

No point complaining that is just the way it works.
