What the subject said, the dated DC/emergency warp mechanics are ill equipped to deal with such issues. And DC still happens way too often, I don't even talk about ISP issues.

There's a simple fix tho, instead of having a speed penalty of -100%, make it -99.99% or something.

Same effect in pvp, since the guy would most likely be pointed anyway AND fixed the DC/emergency warp nonsense since you can still snail crawl to warp speed in the event of a DC, everyone's happy.

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose also applies to DCs Lol

I haven't had a DC in the whole 2013 year ... are you sure it's not your own internet connection ?

That is a great idea, could be applied to all forms of siege perhaps. Dreads, Carriers ect. allowing a bastion or seiged ship the ability to emergency warp off as long as it doesn't have a pvp timer

for those of you who don't experience the lag - tidi - cluster melt downs - system crashes - socket closed and connection lost.. u might need to undock occasionally Roll
though i admit the stability has gotten better since tidi was introduced imo.

last week about 2/3rd of server were dropped and lost connection. TWICE. That type of amssive disconnect happened at least 5 times this year alone!

Must be my playing hours then, I usually am online (and in space, doing missions/incursions, TYVM) in the afternoons and early evenings, eve-time ... and I can honestly say that I haven't had a single DC this year.

And yes, I was online last week ... didn't even see such a massive DC, and I even had my second account's alt trading in Jita, the population there was a steady 1800+ for the whole day ...

Why not just set your Bastion module not to auto repeat? If it's really an issue for you at least then you have a chance to e-warp.

Because the way it works...

You disconnect
Is the bastion running?
If yes, you don't warp
If no, you warp

Your ship only gets e-warp trigger once, at the time game realizes your connection broke, it will not wait for you bastion to turn off and then try to warp. Same goes with tackle, you tackle somebody, he pulls the connection cable out, game figures he disconnected and triggers e-warp, you have him tackled, his ship stays there because he can't warp, and at that point you can turn off your tackle because he isn't going anywhere.

Now, about the bastion + missions = timebomb... well... what can you do, reconnect fast, have enough tank to survive, perma 400-500 tank without bastion should be cheap enough and will keep you alive in 90% of the time so even less chance of you losing your ship. Same could be told scramming frigates in level 4's are timebomb, if you get scrammed by it and DC you are ****** anyhow, lost one very expensive T3 due to that reason years before bastion was even on drawing board.

Well, I'm glad you guys have a rock solid connection to the server, I don't. I DC multiple times everyday while playing only a few hours long. Mostly socket closed, sometimes it's my 4g modem reinitializing it's connection to the cell tower.

Either way, my proposed fix wouldn't break the "working as intended" vision the devs had and would alleviate a lot of grief.

And of course I can replace it, but I ain't gonna make a single penny in the end at this rate of DC, I'll barely be able to replace them as I lose them to a broken game mechanic.

So my only solution for now, is not to use them, which you can agree, isn't a real solution, just a WORKAROUND.

P.S.: Note on perma-running, I use ASBs, which as you know, you can't perma run and since I can't predict when I'll lose the connection, well, you get my drift... And don't tell me to just switch to old-style SBs, that would just be another WORKAROUND. Only CCP can TRULY FIX THIS.

There's nothing to fix because it's not EVE or CCP being the problem, it's you/your connection. Might as well "fix" siege mode then because ppl might disconnect and all that. Also using ASB in pve is dumb as hell, even more so if you're known to have a terrible connection. Stop being a special snowflake, stop stealing internet from your neighbours and stop trying to make your specific problem some one else's.

Solution is simple; Don't have Bastion on auto repeat and stop using silly ASB. Even better would be to get a proper internet connection.

And what about what happened TODAY? When aboudn 20 THOUSAND players lsot connection during the DDOS?

THat is COMMON in eve ( like 3-4 time sper year).. stop beign arrogant. THere is an issue.

And it shoudl be extended to other modules, as soon as bastion or siege ends the ship should try again to e-warp.

Yes that happens really often. Stop trying to create drama, no one is falling for it.

Simple solution... If you're on a poor internet connection don't use bastion.

I too sometimes run missions while I'm away from home on a poor internet connection and I use a cap stable CNR. It still does around 900 DPS and has no issues tanking with multiple DC's from a poor internet connection.

If you're main internet connection is so bad you're getting DC'd perhaps you should shop around for another ISP.

IIshira has got the right idea, it's simple really, rather than asking CCP to change the mechanics, run a cap-stable tank or don't use Bastion if you experience frequent DCs.

Well, no. As it would have many more obvious advantages, less petitions for one.

As for looking for another ISP, well, I'm stuck here. And it's not like everybody's got first class connections, so I don't think anyone should be penalized for having no other choices when a simple enough fix with no side-effects can be applied. Arguing otherwise is either elite mentality, "not my case so don't care and STFU" or something along those lines. This social darwinism bullshit is so outdated and busted it ain't even funny.

Nvm, I rest my case, CCP'll decide.

Glyphe out.
