Quit Game

Setting the game to run in DX 9 often fixes these issues.

My pc, is, in theory able to run the game in DX 11 easily.

I also had random crashes etc.

I set the game to run in DX 9, no more issues.

Edit, when using DX 11, I had no problems whilst station spinning, it was usually when I started to enter warp, or when I was in warp that the lock-ups etc occurred.

This is not a signature.

I have been getting the socket closed error, not at often as you guy but i have been getting it on a regular basis. Originally i thought it was the server kicking my client for inactivity, which i was fine with. But i have been noticing it kicking my active clients too.

Have also been getting this, weird thing I get is all the dialog boxes started disapearing from my screen ill all I see is the ship, alt, tab out then back into Eve and they reappear, last night had the whole screen minimise and I could not get it back, could call up task manger but couldn't click anything in there to kill the process, had to log off then back on, and for the final pièce de résistance, it made my winodows 8 PC blue screen and tell me it had to restart ?

Have had the same as described in the op, only once mind.
In no way was it connection related, or antivirus for that matter. Maby dc 11?
My Corpiees were going on about something similar so I'll ask about and report back.

Normally I don't have any problems, but today I'm flying through ls and i notice it is taking a lot longer to warp to gate than normal, like 3 minutes longer. Then I finally arrive at the gate, and can't warp through. So I figure reset the client. Escape/Quit Game....
Nothing happens. I repeat just incase my click didn't register for some reason still no response. then I ctrl-alt-del and force close the client, STILL NO RESPONSE... about 3 minutes after using the task manager to force close, it actually closes.

After about 10 minutes from the initial hang the client finally closes I can log in...I'm still alive so all good. Then it happens again but this time I'm scanning and the scanning never stops. I moved back to hs and it happens again. I physically move my computer to a different location and use a different plug and it happens again.

I understand that this is probably a timeout issue, but the client should be able to handle them without crashing or going into terminal hangs. Seriously, if the client would pick back up from a timeout that would be fine, but since it is going to just hang and crash anyway, can you move up the timeline so it crashes sooner? Especially if the taskmanager doesn't want to hurt the Eve client's feelings with a force close.

Of course this could be user error somewhere. If so I'm sure GD will enlighten me in oh so many ways.

+1000 for me since Rubicon.

Still, the extremely useful GMs.... oh no wait, I better not continue on this line. A ban will follow if I do.

I have cleared the cache multiple times to no effect. Run the repair tool to no effect. Tried changing the time I play just in case it was a local internet thing. No effect.

No difference on any other program or any other problems with network connections.

But since Rubicon, nothing but trouble (and not a graphics thing either).

Still, those useful GMs.... no, really I better stop here.

Its a DX issue, happens because of DX 11 client. See if you can change it to dX9. Happens with me everytime I have 2 DX11 contexts open at same time (for example open up another game in background to check something)

Don't try to quit the game conventionally, instead hit control_alt_delete and kill the EVE process. And yeah, set to DX9 to see if that helps.

I too have been having this issue since Rubicon. I finally put a support ticket in last night after dc'ing four times in fifteen minutes while running a lvl 4 with a friend. I haven't received a response yet, but I'll try switching to DX9 like others have suggested.

For me it seems to happen most often while in missions, or when there is a lot of stuff on the screen. It didn't happen at all that one time I slow-boated through 300 km of empty space in a Rattlesnake.

I had some strange behavior too in the last few days, the client freezes up and becomes completely unresponsive (no mouse movement ingame, no Shift+Alt+Q and no Ctr+Alt+Delete either).
Also, one of those freezes took my ingame settings with it. Evil

My laptop ist at the end of its lifecycle, though, so I cannot really tell if the problem is ingame or hardware.....

Confirming it's a DX11 bug - had exactly the same issue until I changed down to DX9

Never played Dx11 so it's not a Dx11 bug for me.

Are you closing Applications or Processes?

Go to Processes, not Applications. Find the eve.exe file and End Process.

Should close instantly. That's a forced immediate shutdown, unlike Application's "we'll politely ask and wait until you're ready" shutdown.

I too, have the same issue, & when it feels like it, socket closed box pops up, with a "quit" or "restart" buttons. Theres also another diaglog box behind it, which I cant click on, till I press either the restart or Quit button, but cant see what that box behind it says, as the client just closes.

In both cases, both buttons close the client, & restart never restarts.

All I know, is something isn't responding, or its looping, I know im going to get the "socket closed" error soon after. so I just relaunch the client until the first one decides to shut itself down on its own. & this is in DX9, DX11 was just full of bugs.

OoOOo.... Ya I was using applications. Thank you for this. I always thought the Processes windows was just a more compressive list, but the shutdown method was the same.

Yeah have got this one a couple of times as well.

After the timeout you get back in and stuff like your saved custom overviews and drone groups have been wiped.

The other thing that is way more common after Rubicon is the "Windows 8 is out of memory" error while running EVE, even though I have 8Gb of ram.

I had a problem with this, but it turned out the problem was logging in on my admin account, since all my settings are on the user account.
