So, my little 17" Asus monitor died, It provided me with deep blacks and vibrant colours..

It will be missed.

Its replacement: a recently purchased EPIC FAIL that was Samsung S24B150BL 23.5"
Im going to promptly send it back. Its idea of black ... I call light grey, even after 2 hours of tweaking it last night.

Does anyone here use a 24-27" monitor and can recommend it?
Im hoping to spend less than £150-200 or I draw "other half aggro"

Under 150 GBP (or at least under 200 GBP), pretty good quality (preferably excellent), and over 24" big (possibly even 27")?
A bit hard overall, if you ask me.
And probably nearly impossible on all "best case" counts combined.
It's quite doable with 23"-ish ones though. Would it really be such a big deal if you limited yourself to that size?

...

I have a 23" LG Flatron IPS235 (no longer in production so no joy for you) and it's... adequate. It was fairly cheap when I bought it.

Possible one: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-asus-vs239hr-led-ips-monitor-full-hd-hdmi-dvi-vga-1920x1080p-250cd-m2-80m1-5ms-black
23", with IPS panel (cheap-ish one, but still way better than any traditional TN panel), cost ~135 GBP including VAT (so well within your price range)

Review: http://www.cnet.com.au/asus-vs239h-339341733.htm

"Input lag
Measured against a Samsung SyncMaster 975p CRT and using a Canon 40D set to a shutter speed of 1/320, an average of over 60 photographs were taken using StoppUhr. Lag time was completely negligible — the Asus VS239H would make a decent gaming monitor if you're not fixated on 120Hz."

Also, not excellent on all image quality thingies, but then again, this is an affordable monitor, and it probably delivers much more than you can expect from that price range.

Alternatively, maybe either this

or possibly even this
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-aoc-i2769vm-led-ips-monitor-full-hd-displayport-hdmi-vga-mhl-1920x1080-250cd-m2-50m1-5ms
...but I can't find any solid reviews on either of them though, so... meh.

I'm using the Iiyama Prolite GB2773HS (using the same site Akita did: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-iiyama-gb2773hs-gb1-led-piano-black-144hz-monitor-hdmi-dvi-vga-1920x1080-300cd-m2-5m1-1ms-speaker)

To me, it has way better colours than the previous Samsung did, but YMMV. Only fault I find with it sofar, is that the ON/OFF touchbutton is a bit unresponsive, but yeah.

Also, the price range may be aggro-inducing, but not by much.

They both look like awesome monitors!
Samsung will take back blindingly bright monitor and I have found this:

So looking forward to testing it!

Reviews to come =)

I have to wait 3-5 days whilst they process my returned item it seems.
Little disappointing, but Ebuyer generally do well for me.

Turns out I ended up getting one of these:

http://www.ebuyer.com/466118-23ea63v-23-ips-led-1920-1080-vga-dvi-hdmi-black-23ea63v

Delivered badly by Yodel, but actually its a REALLY nice screen.
If you have a cheap desk, you'll want to get a mount for it. (Stand has a thin neck so can wobble).

Loving it, thinking of a second one :D
