It serves no purpose without a dislike to balance the system...

No one cared before when it was introduced and we said it sucked and wasn't Eve. But now suddenly when it's getting abused as we expected it would, the question gets asked.

Funny that.

We need a third party site called eve-like which is basically like eve-kill but it records forum PvP, with this month's top liked posters and a leaderboard of liked posts with a summary of where their likes come from so people can check if they just spammed the 'Like and Get Likes' thread to show off their forum skills.

Giving everyone likes dilutes their value and makes those of us who worked up likes through HARD WORK and PERSEVERANCE suffer because of this tyrannical distribution of like-wealth. You all who got DSQ or FD's likes? YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT!
Bullcrap.

It was earned by being an active contributing member of this community. Players who are really active in these forums contribute more. As such, they get more likes bestowed upon them.

So it's quantity over quality now? How are we educated people supposed to fulfill our responsibility to uplift and enlighten the unfortunate masses if large volumes of plain senseless blather are encouraged instead of precise, intelligent, and well-worded gudpoasting? The fact you support this tyranny of the unwashed masses speaks volumes about you, and that's not a good thing.
Well, you may think or believe that I'm not a good poster and you have a right to your opinion. As we all know, opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one. Some just happen to be sh*tty.

Just like beauty, quality is in the eye of the beholder. What one person views as quality another person views as substandard. Like I said, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

As for the distribution of LIKES being manipulated, that issue was brought up back when the LIKES option was first implemented in these forums. Doesn't matter whether the LIKES are done by a script or done by alts and friends, it's still being manipulated.

In my opinion the LIKES counter here in these forums doesn't mean anything and it's nothing more than just a game. Those who think LIKES actually mean something seriously need to realize it's just a facade. A fake artificial deceptive representation of the community viewpoint towards the character.

The only way to actually assess the value of a characters contribution to this community is to browse the content of their posted replies. Those replies should definitely pertain to the thread topic but should also be informative and helpful as well..

Course now we're back to the eye of the beholder. Some players may view a simple 'Yarrr' as a quality reply when posted in a thread about Pirates. Others may view it as substandard.

The bottom line is that LIKES don't mean anything, especially here in these forums which are constantly being meta-gamed in one way or another.

By the way, I think the majority of your posted replies are on topic, informative and very helpful.
