Hello everyone!

I've been into the faction warfare scene for a time, and flying amarr ships you know you really have limited choices in what you can pvp in. (At least from what I have seen)

With that i have been pvp'ing in a slicer which i think is a very reliable kiting ship

Now i am trying to get a brawler into pvp and the retribution has caught my eye

I am trying to get it with a small armor rep but no luck in getting any of the stats i want with whatever fit i try.

If anyones had any luck with fitting one of these bad boys for pvp please help me out.

Any fits i find online are all VERY old so any help will be appreciated!

You fly a Retribution the exact same way you'd fly a Slicer.

An Assault frigate as a kiter?

Vengeance is a better brawler, but I agree that the slicer works best solo.

If you're flying it solo, then you might...but you should also be comfortable getting close, depending on your target. In a gang, it's perfectly serviceable closer up.

one of the cool things about pulse lasers is that they have ridiculous range flexibility. The Retri gets a tracking bonus meaning that you can be just as comfortable up close as you are at ~15-20km.

Anyway, for solo, the Retri is probably best as a tankier, slower slicer. In gangs, though, you're perfectly fine to fit a scram and get closer up. Dedicating yourself to scram range while solo isn't as good because the lack of a web means things can just run away if they need to.

Actually, using ships in a non-obvious way, as long as it still works fine, makes good sense. Because "everyone" will expect it to be a brawler so any ship that could deal with a brawler Retri would happily attack it and then suddenly realise it's actually a kiter. Works the same with a kiting Punisher.

The Retribution is essentially a tankier, gankier slicer, that goes 2/3 the speed. You kite around for as long as you can, then brawl your target down when/if you get hard tackled. Thanks to the tracking and optimal bonuses, you have perfect damage application anywhere within 20km. Your targets of opportunity are other assault frigates, AB frigs, and cruisers that are slower than you and cannot project out to 20km. Any T1 frigate with an MWD can catch you, but they are dispatched easily enough before they become a real worry. Things you want to avoid, starting with the #1 most dangerous ship to you: Sentinels, TD's and Neuts, you're f*cked if one of these points, Neuts, and TD's you. You also want to avoid cruisers that can catch you, which is most shield ones. Anyways, the best way to figure out how to fly any ship, is to buy one and get out there with it. Learn what it can and cannot do, play to its strengths (kiting) and just have fun.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

Thanks everyone for the replies!

Lots of great info!

I'm currently having problems on what inhibitor medium slot i should be using..

scram, disruptor, or just try to align point with a web.

I'd suggest fitting a t2 long point and no-tank/nanos/maybe single ancilliary repper for kiting in FW, and simply mwd+web for null. Out there, greed is an excellent form of tackle, especially around boatloads of untanked triplenano'ed no-DCU frigs with mwds.

I want to strongly promote not using it as a brawler. With neither rangecontrol nor the very important third mid, it just can't do what an AC wolf can do in a brawl.
