Need Help with a Triple Monitor Setup!

So I've long considered going for a triple monitor setup. I want to make sure I plan it out and do it right, though, since my rather limited desk space could potentially end in disaster for any rushed attempts, potentially wasting enormous amounts of money!

So I've drawn up an MSPaint example of my desk space. Just FYI, the length of the lines and so forth are not actually relative to each other... one 35in line might be bigger than the other 35in line. The drawing is just to help visualize, the measurements are the numbers to go by.

So here it is! If anybody could help recommend monitors, stands, wall mounts, positions and sizing, etc... any of that would be immensely helpful! I've got the money to put into this thing, I just really want to make sure I do it right :P

You can always put the the monitors in portrait mode to save on width. Not sure if you have thought of that.

That is an interesting idea... and if they could all three fit side by side that way it might make for some interesting movie or gaming experiences too!

Are you thinking like... three widescreen monitors, but turned to be long side vertically? I imagine even three of those side by side would probably form some sort of mega widescreen.

I hear that there's a special brand of monitors with really thin edges for stuff like that.

Yup thats exactly what I'm thinking.

All you should have to do is google thin bezel monitors and will find some. I know Asus have some but I'm sure Dell and HP make them as well. Just double check they have the 4 screw VESA mounts.

Also IPS type displays would be ideal for their enhanced viewing angles but those do cost a bit more.

So I'm looking up monitors... looking for the thin edged widescreen ips display types! I didn't check for the 4 screw VESA mounts yet, though...

http://www.amazon.com/Asus-MX239H-23-Inch-LED-backlit-Frameless/dp/B00B1IAL7W/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388435121&sr=1-13&keywords=asus+ips+display is neat but has a thicker bottom, making it probably less ideal for the portrait style layout.

I shall keep looking though :O

Okay, so I wound up getting three of these monitors. They each came with one HDMI cable, so I have a total of three.

I am using this graphics card. It has got two DVI outputs as well as one HDMI and one Display Port.

I also ordered two adapters. this, a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, as well as this adapter, a HDMI to DVI-D adapter.

The problem that I'm having right now is that I can't get all three monitors to work at once. From what I am reading online, it might have something to do with them being passive adapters as opposed to active adapters? Could anybody with some experience with this sort of thing shed some light on the matter for me?

hmmm, I dont know about Radeon but with Nvida, you have to enable Surround on the control panel. Don't know if its the same with Radeon.

for that card you have to ignore the hdmi. the max you can use are the DVI + Displayport. in that card's case it's 3--identical to the 5770 I used to have, and ran 3 monitors on. i saw the explanation once, basically the displayport signal can be handled with the DVI ports simultaneously, while the hdmi output cannot.

the adapter you want is the xfx MA-AP01-PD1K example here: http://www.microcenter.com/product/365845/Active_DisplayPort_to_DVI_Adapter i have 6 of those, about to expand to 8 on my dual HD 7970s... the ones with the two DVI + four displayport

also, don't worry about the bezels. as long as they're not rounded, and the screen will stay portrait on its own, your brain will ignore the spaces between the monitors. trust me, it's a basic function of your brain to ignore unimportant parts of your vision field. you won't even notice bezels. ...the people who talk about bezels are the ones who haven't used multiple monitors yet / they're the only ones who bring it up. your brain has no trouble jumping between monitors, that includes use of your mouse. it kind of helps to have that separation between screens anyway, to organize the monitors into separate visual areas.
