TLDR: use faction FOF missiles to blap small rats without manual cycling, target paint them

FOF missiles are a thing again for PVE. The cruise missile buff resulted in enough volley damage to 1-shot BC- target painted rats with them, which allows the missioneer to take advantage of the missiles' automated cycling. When the cycling is automated, you will not lose the two server tick lag you would when cycling missiles on small targets. Using this to complement fury missile ships makes for a new kind of efficiency in mission running for the missile boats, which were severely lacking before in "blap" capability.

The Golem is the optimal ship to use FOF missiles with, as a complementary weapon system against small target swarms which abound in L4 missions. The speed of the missiles make even two staggered groups cycle so, that no volleys are lost to overkill at below 50km ranges. Last but not least, the low missile consumption is key to isk efficiency using even faction FOF missiles, which should be soon rising in demand drastically.

FOF missiles always target the closest rat, which is predictable enough to take full advantage of. The "Controlled Chaos" doctrine I propose uses target painting along FOF missles to kill small things with the full advantage of auto-cycling launcher groups (2 groups seem optimal, staggered to midway cycle). Keep two painters on the two nearest ships:

In conclusion, the standard Golem puts faction FOF missiles into really nice use completely bypassing the need for precision missiles.

New cars or used? Your day job I mean.

Be careful what you think, for your thoughts become your words. Be careful what you say, for your words become your actions. Be careful what you do, for your actions become your character. And character is everything. - author unknown

Two issues.

One:
Quote:
FOF missiles always target the closest rat, which is predictable enough to take full advantage of.

I thought they used the same logic as drones, not just closest?

Two:
Will FOF missiles hit people who have gone suspect by (for example) stealing a can of yours or blowing up your MTU? If so, this sounds like a really easy way to lose a Golem. Where do you run missions?

1) Always closest. They even switch target to closest from previously shot ones.

2) Yes, don't go AFK with FOF if you're scared of this. Even better, if you want to kill FOF missioneers just find them in a 0.5, aggro them by getting concorded on them but taking a FOF volley, wait 15min, tackle them in a dropped ship/ceptor. On a serious note, an unbastioned Golem has generally less than 70k EHP so there are much easier ways to lose one.
