How about this:

EVE hardcore mode: you die, your OS is overwritten with a program that displays a video of CCP Guard looking down on you, pointing, and laughing hysterically.

Yes, down.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

No, see, you guys have it all wrong.

Hardcore mode isn't so much about making the risk higher

Hardcore mode should make it more challenging. Put limitations on yourself by doing things like only using meta 0 fittings, and not being allowed to train anything to 5 (thus cutting out all T2 ships)

It's cheaper AND harder to work with.

OOoo, another idea. You're not allowed to use rigs, at all.

That is less Hardcore mode and more "Pre-Expansion" mode. Being a capsuleer with the ability to be killed without penalty is... in essence, easy mode. Making death have meaning in this game with random skill loss would actually make it not only have more meaning but also create some form of hardship.

Perhaps creating a system where you cannot be cloned without skill loss unless you have sizable standing? It involves some NPC work so I'm sure some pvpers will cry, but tears are made to be collected.

Bah, hardcore mode is relying on RMT to pay your rent.

On a side note, is playing against CCP's devs and fraud team considered to be PvP or PvE?

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Anyone think Eve Online is too easy ?

How about a Hardecore mode whereby if you die your character gets wiped and you start again from 900k sp or w/e it is you start at.

I think i've seen it before, seen it shot to pieces and laughed at before, just no, please stahp, biomass, can i haz etc

Super hardcore mode? Car batteries wired to your nipples and rigged to shock you whenever you take damage?
Come on, think big! Overheat your masochism and misery and let those thoughts about suffering and loss ooze all down the forums like a bucket of chicken guts left in the sun all day.

Edit: or not

How about having your wife/significant-other standing-by with a bat. Have her hit you in the head every time you take damage. Right now she probably only complains about what a waste of time eve is. Explain to her she needs to exhibit some REAL aggro.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Hardcore mode.. only use rookie ships never not be in a rookie ship. PvP will now be pretty hard but feel all the more rewarding if you ever manage to solo kill that annoying saber... Good Luck

Eve was originally intended to be more like that and it was one of the bigger issues/concerns I had with World of Darkness - 99% of players just don't want to play that seriously and for those that find that style of gameplay rewarding - they make up a tiny fraction of potential players.

make hardcore f2p sure they could be massive carebear but maybe they could have like a special nametag like dust players do so gankers know what to look for

This is unfortunately why we rarely see decent games and why of those decent games that do get released, the difficulty is slowly eroded until its no longer decent. EvE as an example.

Games are made for average people and average people like things to be easy.

Why not limit the accelerated hardmode characters to only pvp and combat skills much like how trial accounts are limited in what they can train.

Then just give everyone a fourth character slot.

While I like the thought of a massive influx of characters (in my mind combat limited characters) I feel like going f2p may not be the best idea. Tons of players would multibox tons of characters and just close the window and start another f2p account every time they died.

Maybe put a cooldown timer on how long it takes for each account to get their next accelerated clone/character. CCP could then sell the ability to deacrease this time.

Just play Dead is Dead. That might be enough of a limitation right there to make it hardcore. You can still do everything you already do like fitting out your ships properly, etc. But there would be no sense in upgrading your clone, of course.

Have fun! Smile

The only reason you could think this was a good idea is if you're some noob who's butthurt that people who have been playing longer have more skills.

We must restart the game at some time, it has been running since 2003 and it's not fair for actual new players. The problem with Eve is that there are way too many alts and to few new players that actually think about getting into Eve. I mean , seriously now , if you want to know how many actual real persons play the game at a time , all you need to do is just divide Current Online Players by 50 or even more.
Starting all over from 0 SP i think it will bring great benefits to the game.

You mean like everyone who's been playing this game for more than a year leaving in absolute disgust?
Yeah... great benefits.
What we have now is fair to new players. It's not the old player's fault they've been playing longer. It would not be fair to established players to take away their skillpoints. The vast majority of them would get fed up and leave.

Your idea is stupid.

Also, very, very few people have anywhere near 50 alts. Most people have at most 3 or 4, and there are many players who have only one account.

You fail to see the benefits here... What if you have invested your skill points badly ? Why should one quit in disgust, when he has a chance to start all over again ? That without having to create multiple alts and accounts .
