Hiring crew members. Maybe specific ships would require a certain amount of hands on board to operate. The bigger the ship the more crew members you need hired

This could also provide a host of new skill sets where your crew can provide bonus's to different aspects of your ship.

Lastly. it just seems weird that I'm piloting a giant spaceship by myself.

now thats just being extreme. it was a single family's parent-and-children retirement.

but it is NOT without merit to say ISk is INCREDIBLY mroe valuable per unit than planetary currency, do to economics of scale.

banks use 1000 and 10,000 USD notes when trading between eachother, most normal people would rarely find the occasion to use a 100 note, and that is considered huge, but again, banks trade the 1/10k notes by the thousands.

thats just between 2 banks, between any 2 countries your talking scales large enough they can no longer use physical money, so they trade large amount of goods or digital notes.

were talking a multi-factional galactic empire scale economy, with capsuleers each operating as the equivalent of an independent nation.

the scale of that makes it not hard to believe that a capsuleer could easily pay for crews to a single ship with pocket change.

Can you prove it? Cause I don't remember paying anyone.

Its included in the cost of the ship

Uhmm, but he just explained to you there IS a crew, you just don't interact with them.

As a sidenote though, I wouldn't mind seeing some crew interaction like you suggested. Or even the possibiity to board other players' ships at the risk of your character getting blown up :p

The only way this would make sence, because of the player being in a pod, would be by makinging ship boarding mor of an rts wrather than an fps. But the you get into the roblem of in the middle of boarding both ships explode.

If you want Star Citizen features, you should stop playing this sad game of EVE and play Star Citizen when it comes out.

You'll never see WIS and crew in EVE so might as well play a game which can do that.

Also X Rebirth...

Stop asking this old dog to learn new tricks. Its only a little while longer because EVE catches rabies and you have to take it out back with a shotgun.

"Freely Adapted" interpretations like the excellent "Clear Skies" videos aside, that's exactly what you're doing. Get's damn crowded and a bit "ripe" in that pod with more than one anyway.

I think what OP means, is to have a crew like STO what you can train and replace them. Its sounds cool and it is like in STO but in eve well i think thats a great move to let people to play more so the crew gain standerd XP like all other mmorpg. So people that play more gain more XP while SP farmers gain nothing.

This will boost up the game in time to. Yah i agree sounds great OP.

Sadly, I actually suggested this in the original Ship crews thread, all the way back in the old forums. It's still linked to in the 'Commonly Proposed Ideas' thread in Features and Ideas

Amusingly, I seem to have come up with STO's system before STO existed, which, had it and WiS been fully implimented, would have meant that EvE did every single thing that STO did, better, first.

Crew works good in EVE lore and fiction but EVE lore and fiction are often at complete odds with the realities of game play. Boarding actions are a fine example. And I would love to see the recruitment adds placed by a serial suicide ganker. The lore and fiction are best dismissed as melodramatic dreck written for people who like that kind of stuff and the game is best played for itself.

Just so you know, they locked you in the captains quarters, and they are not opening the door before you pay.

Not true, the rabies would be unleashed by rabid nullseccers on carebear miners. I for one welcome the addition of rabies and biological warfare to eve.

I do wonder though, who would be stupid enough to sign on as crew on a capsuleer ship. It's not like we're risk adverse people and every undock is potentially a suicide mission. We need more automation so that we don't have to wonder about theses things anymore.

Yeah, but Whoopi didn't explode routinely and wake up as a clone, only to rejoin Picard on a new ship and go back to waxing philosophical and making drinks for the rest of the crew... who were also all just cloned and rejoined the bar scene on said new ship. There's just way to much to explain there... and way too much to compensate for every time you get popped by someone.

Simply put, we aren't supposed to "know" our crews because they are vast, expendable and die often. Horribly. How we would ever work that into day-to-day EVE life is beyond me.

There was an old (some years ago) post where they stated as having a crew as game mechanic affecting ship stats was in the orginal EVE design.

Anyway, for the lore all the ships are assumed to have a crew beside the capsuleer; this was never translated in specific game mechanics (I think for simplification needs).

Could be a cool idea, but actually this would be simply like adding a further tier of modules/rigs/booster/whatever.

Well, yes, this too.
Who would apply to join a crew of a spaceship where the pilot don't really give a **** because whatever happens he'll reborn in a brand new medical clone? :)

The desperate, the suicidal, the gullible, and the people really bad at figuring odds, I suspect.

Just think, desperate scrub out of money, all you have to do is survive ONE trip on a New Order Gankalyst, and you're set for life.

C'mon, the lifeboat pod isn't THAT far away from the workstation, and the Sisters will be by to pick you up quick.

Also, I told Vinnie, your Frentix dealer, that you were a narc.
