I think there is one of me....?

Sounds silly, it's an obvious statement of fact or it's a less than clever play on the fact there is one of me, with some physical copies waiting for me to jump into them.

That's not what I meant though.

It feels like there is only one like me, born, as I am and then choosing to fight for my sworn enemies. Choices, choices... mines been made and there's no going back. In fairness I wouldn't want to, my corp mates are my tribe now and while we are looked at by the amarrian empire with some... distaste, there is absolutely no denying what we can bring down upon our foes in the name of the empress.

This is not a post about that mind you, back to subject. I know I am not alone, so.

Stick your hands up if I'm not alone? Were you born caldari but now fight for the gallente? An amarrian who now attacks his/her own in the name of repentance for percived wrong doings? Why did you do it?

The following is my own answer, feel free to dismiss it out of hand, it's for those that want to know.

Personally the reason I fight for Amarrian interests now is pretty simple. The Minmatar militia really pissed me off, here's how.

When I became a capsuleer I was only interested in improving my skills in combat. Specifically very small fleet operations, surgical strikes and targeted asset redistribution. I was not aligned and operated out of my base in Turnur in the Eugidi constellation. I targeted anyone that I had not got good standings with me, however at the time this meant I ended up attacking a lot of Amarrian militia. Not by design, they just happened to be on mission a lot in the area.

Some of you met me at this stage, you know who you are.

Over time I started to actively help the minmatar militia, I became one of the most prolific lone hunters of amarrian vessels on missions in the area. I built an odd camaraderie with my targets because as you guessed, they just kept coming back -1 ship and a number of crew. What I didn't understand at the time though was I was treated like dirt by pretty much most of the minmatar forces. I stopped targeting anyone but amarrian forces (well.... mostly) and I was still treated like waste. Ironic because many of the people doing that did a lot less than I did for the cause.

I since found out it was due to my security status. Even though they knew why it was the way it was I was still looked down upon.

I then bit the bullet, joined militia. Specifically TRIAD. Now TRIAD were a great bunch of people, focussed and commited to the task at hand and certainly capable of looking after themselves. In my short term there I made lasting contacts who I have the utmost of respect for even if I'll readily shoot them on sight now. However, the rest of the militia was a differant story and coupled with TRIADS insistance I only focus on raising my sec status (which would have required a large amount of time not running combat operations against my chosen foe), I was somewhat annoyed.

Out of spite (yes I am big enough to admit the pettyness of such an act) I decided to take up an offer from who is now one of my closest friends. To join TMFED, a corp that I certainly thought of as premier pilots (arguably the addition of myself watered that down considerably). People I could learn something from.

Before all that though I started my rampage across Hed, known for furious combat zones in systems such as amamake I was completely overwhelmed at the change of pace. No longer did I need to gently stalk my prey, no, now they were in your face within a few minutes of undocking and it was glorious. Very quickly the amarrians knew I'd not joined for nefarious reasons as the kills of my own kind racked up.

I started learning from TMFED, some of the best pilots in New Eden have passed through that corp and I learned much. Once I'd picked up controlling my own ship I got to work on small gang tactics, fleet command and 'fleet riding' (which is not for the feint of heart). I started looking for others in militia with differant mindsets, tactics and methodologys. Forming my own slant I worked on wolf pack style combat, I created an inter militia group solely dedicated to the skilled small gang combatent and it has been a somewhat succesful. Although we are from many corps we operate as one without needing to look like it, spread across most of the warzone.

So do I fight now out of habit? No of course not. The rage has subsided, snubbed by my own kind is a bitter pill to swallow but what I've found in the absence of them is a family I am willing to fight tooth and nail for. After all, every family got it's dark side right?

My apologies if this came across as a somewhat self serving communication. I have found it pretty hard to write about myself without elevating my achievements beyond their somewhat humble truth. I look forward to reading your reasons for becoming a traitor to your race....

Got shafted. Tried to build karma and brush it off. Universe shafted me and said **** you.

So I stopped caring about karma and shafted the Verse back.

I don't think about it that much. I just do whatever I think is fun and profitable. Quickly finding out the two don't always mix so well, though.

CLASSIFIED DOCUMENT YOUR EYES ONLY ACCESS

What a great spy you are! I am sure they will soon trust you with all their best hidden secrets. Keep the information flowing on their military movements.

You have been a great asset to destroying the slavery cultists while pretending to be their tool.

I can only hope the pilots you fly with are foolish enough to think anyone who would betray their race would not one day betray them also.

I hope this classified communication never becomes public, them thinking you are a good little slave is essential for your continued success.

I've never betrayed my people, but I was once charged by Sukuuvestaa for being a double-agent in the employ of Kaalakiota.

Fortunately such a ridiculous allegation was put to rest some months ago rather amicably. I swear sometimes, it's almost as if spurious legal charges and dubious aspersions upon my character always want to follow me.

As if anyone in their right mind would actually believe I was a corporate spy.

To become one of the Amarr, my friend, is not to betray your race, and to be quite honest with you I know very few of us who would look on one of our brethren in the faith with distaste. That is because the Amarrian Empire is not a race of people; we simply don't often think of ourselves that way. You may find the odd ultradox conservative who believes that, but it isn't true. Despite the stereotype, even our most egalitarian families aren't so inbred that they can trace the entirety of their ancestry back to that one island on our progenitor planet. We've absorbed, through conquest or voluntary absorption, numerous races and cultures throughout the years.

In the end, we are not a race or people, we are a faith of people. What unites us is a service to our Lord and to our people. You will find that even those who vehemently disagree with you will honor that faith. That we are not a people who believe in every-man-for-himself, then in a close circle, then the other faithful. We are all, we Amarrians, in this together. And to be Amarrian is not to be born here, but to find harmony with our brotherhood in the faith.

Perhaps your reason for joining has nothing to do with that faith yet, but it may in time. What I can say to you, with certainty, is that even if you feel alone, you are not alone. I suppose it is difficult to speak on behalf of an entire empire, especially one so large as ours, but I can say with no trepidation that if you are of the faith, you are one of mine, no less my family than my own brothers. You don't even have to kill Republicans to be as such. You could retire here and lead a simple life without firing another shot. If you live righteously, you are every bit as Amarrian as I am.

If you found consternation from the disunity of your former forces, even though you fought in their name, you've come to the right place. We are an empire built with unity, with faith as our mortar, and you don't even have to shoot someone to be a part of it.

Welcome, my sister! Those who come to the Amarrian Empire with a mind to learn and to take part have found a larger family than just a corporation.

Born in the Empire. Raised in faith. I have no home other than Amarr.
